The First View, a thought for those who want to be at their CH

Now this is a very personal topic, and might not be for everyone....just putting an option out there for people who may want to enjoy their CH.

With that said...I always thought that i DID NOT want to see my FH until the ceremony. But, we just went to meet with our first photo/video (Fade to Black) and he made a very good point, that with a bridal party of 21....its going to be VERY hard to squeeze pictures in during the CH. Now i WANT to be at my CH, even if its just for 10-20 min. Then again, i don't want to rush my pictures!
His suggestion, a 'First View'...which is basically, before the ceremony, FH's back is turned and i tap him on the shoulder and he turns around and see's me for the first time. Of course this can be changed up how ever, but its such a more personal/intimate way for FH to see me all dressed up. Of course he's going to see me walk down the ailse with the blusher and all that....but i saw video of this First View and it brought tears to my eyes!
My mom, who was DEAD SET on not having my FH see me....saw the videos and actually REALLY liked this idea.

Its something to think about.....

I had felt the same way. I was dead set against my FH to see me until I walked down the aisle. But with my wedding being in the evening in oct I really have no choice but to meet before the wedding otherwise I would get no pix in the sunlight. This decision was a struggle for me but I have made peace with it. Besides photos we really do want to enjoy our CH with our guests. I know the wedding is going to fly by. I want every sec to enjoy the party.

Looking online at photo/video sites I came across a video whr it showed the '1st view'. The bride was coming down in an elevator to greet ger groom. He was waiting with his back facing the door. When the doors opened she tapped his shoulder, he turned around and his face was priceless. It was such a beautiful moment . After talking about this with my FH he says seeing me b4 the ceremony will not change the feeling he knows he will have when he sees me walking down the aisle to him.

When i was at pre-cana and we were talking to a couple and they have the same problem as us ...we are having an early wedding so its starts at 11 and the CH starts at 1 and told us that they are going to take pictures b/f the church .... but they told us about this and i mean i really didnt want kev to see me b/f and we were talking about it and he said to me that he wants to see me walking down the aisle ...so we really dont want to do that ...i mean it really sounds like a good idea to get pictures but at the same time i would like to see face at the church ....its more special to us that way ..but we have a great photographer and he told us that we will not miss the CH and he said that he has done this were the couple wants to go the CH so he will make it happen!
But thats a good idea though!

I have seen these videos before and they have brought me tears!! if it wasnt because my ceremony is early and we have a gap in between I would've totally went for this.. esp bc I want to go to my CH!

U ladies have an advantage by doing your ceremony at a dif loc because you have that gap inbtwn ceremony and CH for pix. So it wirks out great. Everything is in 1 loc for me so my CH is immediately after ceremony. If we had a gap I def wldnt let Jose see me until the ceremony.

I'm doing a first view too although I was deadset against it prior to planning our wedding.

The first time FH sees you is going to be special no matter which way it happens!

i totally understand why photographers suggest this, but no matter how flexible i try to be, this is a non-negotiable for me. I need to keep that tradition for me.
FH wanted to go to town hall and marry (keep the reception still that we booked, but be legally married now) But i feel like that takes away from the whole wedding planning then. Similarly, having him see me first, I feel like will take away that feeling of walking down the aisle.
If photographers get pushy about this though, they are crossed off my list!

I think I want to stick to the traditional viewing at the church. I would love to be a part of my CH and I think I have about 2 hours in-between the church, but I agree I don't want to rush my pictures, so if I miss it or part of it then I'll just enjoy the reception

If i was having my wedding at a church, i would go the traditional route.....since we would have time inbetween. But, we not.....so i love the idea of a first view. Plus, i decided that i'm going to get a blusher for when i walk down the ailse, so thats a little extra too.

Im in the same boat. I actually considered having a church ceremony just so we'd have the gap for the pix lol but I really rather keep everything in one location. Makes it easier.

Ques: What is a blusher??

Re: The First View, a thought for those who want to be at their CH

My FH and i were both raised catholic....but we both have issues with organized religion so no church....never even entered our thoughts (you had to see the blow up with my italian catholic family.....).
I love the set up for our ceremony at the SC! I cant wait. Plus, our best friend is going to be the 'minister' and i feel it so much more intimate..

A blusher is the litte veil thinggy that goes in front of your face while you walk down the ailse with your dad and then your FH will lift to show your face....its one aspect of tradition that i love and will keep.

I've seen teaser videos with the first view idea and it looked so nice! I think I may have FH do this and just act surprised so I can have it in my video lol

I totally have the same feelings as you do about organized religion. That is the reason I didnt want a church ceremony. It only crossed my mind bcuz I was thinking about our pix and the gap we'd have. I quickly x'd that idea lol I love our ceremony set up also. Its exactly what FH and I wanted

Oooo ok. Thanks for letting me know. I didnt know that was the term for those kinds of veils.

Jassy, would you consider doing the first view? I wouldnt get married in a church just because of the pictures!!!!

Once again, IMO...FH is going to be surprised no matter what. I'm NOT going to use the blusher for the first view.....but when i walkdown the ailse with my dad i will have it on. Then he gets a little extra at that time by seeing my dad lifting it and 'presenting' my face.

I did have an idea (before this whole first view came into my mind), of walking down those stairs at the SC and having FH see me....now i'm not quite sure how i want to do the first view...

Yes, im now going to do a first view. But I was dead set against it at 1st bcuz I always wanted my FH to not see me until I walked down the aisle. It was a really hard decision to make ehich is when that idea crossed my mind but now I am fine with the 1st view. I made peace with that decision. Plus I really want to enjoy the CH that we are paying for with our guests.
