The Hip Hop/Rap World & Violence

Do you think Record Companies & Radio Stations have a responsibility to try to help squash all the rivalry or do you think they like the exposure & profits the media attention all the violence gets?

This was on Nightline the other night. I missed the story but I was reading the article attached and was wondering if they have a responsibility to nonviolence.

IS CORPORATE AMERICA TO BLAME FOR HIP HOP VIOLENCE?

actually no i don't think it is their responsibility....

but it would be nice if people would grow up already..
these fueds are sooo stupid...

A part of me thinks that rappers and record producers do it purposefully because it will get bigger sales than other records...

Some of it i think is almost fake

I don't think it's neccessarily fake but I think they exagerate the fighting in the media.

I'm not an Al Sharpton fan at all but he had a point in the article. The FCC made a HUGE deal over a Boobie (Janet's) yet they do nothing over the violence in songs ... I understand they bleep out the work F**k and s**t, and d**k, etc ... but the whole stanza is there to understand they are talking about killing each other or being proud of killing someone. That guy in jail who released a record (forgot his name) boasts that he's still 'thugging' from behind bars. Should he be making money from behind bars? How did he even record an album?

Nah..

granted it appears like it and they sell more records because of 'drama' or 'beef' but they are just reporting stuff.

people do need to grow up though..you make money doing nothing but talk about money, cars and girls.. let me loook like a gangsta to sell a few more.

okay, I know I will get flamed for this, but...

I love rap and hip hop. At 26, I still buy the cds and go to the concerts.

However, Faith Evans new song strikes me as funny. Now Notorious BIG had some great songs that were fun to dance to at the club. He was killed, and I feel for his family and friends. But on the other hand, if he wasn't a recording artist, would people still mourn this guy who was a hustling drug dealer? He says he had to feed his kids, well so do garbage men and McDonald's employees. I just feel like P. Diddy and Faith are selling these albums in memory of this guy, who really, if a drug dealer was on your block, wouldn't you want him dead?

We, and I am guilty too, support these guys, Snoop-pimp
I-Tea-pimp..pimps!! I spend money on pimps and sing along to their songs..

I think there is definately a situation at hand that needs to be dealt with.

I am not an avid fan of Rev Al Sharpton, but I think he does work hard to make a better place for youth. I think he has a valid point in filtering what is listened to.

but isn't that the point..that they bleep out the profanity...
IMO they are doing their jobs by doing this...
i really think that it is the responsibility of the artists to stop this crap.
I mean they perpetuate the violence themselves.
