Do you give the front desk staff a specific list of people to receive the OOT bags?
I don't want to give one to EVERYONE in my block because I am having a lot of local family stay at the hotel and though I love them dearly, its not worth the $$ to make them a 'Welcome to Long Island' bag
So does the hotel ask for a list of the bags? or is it usually just the block and you cant make changes?
Im using the Hyatt Windwatch if anyone has advice on them specifically, but I wouldnt mind hearing about other people's experiences in general.

Oh, I'm not sure about that! That's a good question.
When I spoke to the hotel they asked not to put specific names on the bags because it would make it harder for them to find the bag that belongs to the right person.
But if all the bags were the same, and you just wanted them to work from a list of who gets them, I would *guess* that they'd be able to do that ...

I originally asked if I could have them put in the guests rooms in advance, but since someone might request a different room than reserved the hotel asked if they could just hand them out when the guest checked in. They also asked that I make them the same, so it would be easier to distribute. HTH. Call the hotel, they're usually so helpful and used to this sort of thing.

since i had families staying, their oot bags were different. so i had the SAME issue... wanting to make sure who got what.
this is what i did. i put a tag (like a gift tag) on each bag with the person WHOSE NAME IS ON THE HOTEL REGISTRY. for example, if david smith is my guest, but his gf mary jones is the one who made the reservation: i put MARY JONES on the tag.

but to answer your question: YES, you can make sure that only certain people get the oot bags!

Just wanted to ask...will local family members be hurt by this? If I was checking in for someone's wedding and saw the gift baskets sitting there and they didn't give me one I would probably ask. And if they said sorry, not for you I would be pretty bummed. Because I really love STUFF!

Its a fair question... yeah, its only a handful and they already know and aren't expecting anything. My family is pretty cool like that

My hotel will deliever to the persons room for 5$ per bag.....there was no way id pay that! So now they said they do it at the desk but it would have to be 1 per room...all the same stuff bc they cant sort through names and all. So thats what we are gonna do....just do 1 per room and keep it as that!
