the house next door to my school went up in flames today!!!

we couldnt believe it. Were all in the faculty room eating lunch and all of the sudden one of the teachers screams. We have large windows on our room overlooking the back of the school and to the right side was a house- completely engulfed in flames in the back of the house. It was so scary to see!!! Thank god no one was home. They had a dog but he got out safe. Unfortunately one of the kids had a guinea pig he had gottne from the teacher to take care of for the week- that dies along with a turtle. the house is a mess- one car was ruined, all the windows were broken..
We had to explain to the kids what happened because they sawe the fire trucks, police and heard the sirens.
It was a scary sight. It happened in East Meadow off of Bellmore Rd. if anyone knows..

Thank god it wasnt an outdoor day. the 2nd grade playground is righ tnext door to this house!!!

Oh my God that's HORRIBLE!!! I feel so bad for the family and the poor pets!

But thank GOD no one was in there, besides, the animals of course, and the kids didn't have recess there!

They will probably be shaken up for a while about it

How terrible! You witness the craziest things, you know that? A couple months ago, one of our neighbor's cars went up in flames after they left it running in the driveway for a while. That was pretty nuts. At least nobody was home. Poor turtle and guinea pig though

Yeah, my Mom just told me- she lives very close by.
She said she was just driving home & saw some firetrucks heading back there tonight!!!
Wonder what happened??? Think the fire wasn't completely out?

hte fire must have started around 12:15 p.m. and they were still there when i left at 3:45.. who knows what happened! Im sure it will be in the local paper or channel 12 news! it was pretty bad!!
