this is a totally non wedding issue but I have stupid dial up AOL and want something that is faster, I was thinking earthlink but they give the option of DSL vs. cable. I know the difference but does anybody know whats better? is earthlink good? then there is roadrunner etc... I need something that I could use on my laptop too--wireless--- any suggestion?!?!?!

definitely go with optimum, i used to have roadrunner and am fine with that too but it's not available where i live now...
stay away from places like earthlink, aol and verizon, they will cap your upload/download rate. ;)
DH and I do alot of research b4 we decide on optimum, they do offer the best in terms of value.

oh i forgot to mention i'm at my laptop in the living room using optimum via wireless connection so yeah optimum offers wireless. you'll have to get linksys or another wireless router for it though.
and i'm also an internet snob as that's my profession so i only choose the best when it comes to my internet connection. :D

I also have Optimum. DSL modems can be cheaper than cable, but those cheaper ones are also slower. If you want fast, go for cable - Optimum or Roadrunner, depending on if you have Cablevision or Time Warner Cable.
To go wireless, then, on your laptop is easy: a good wireless router (like mine from Netgear) is usually about $20/$25 (for some reason they're always like $40 with a $20 rebate).

optimum online is much faster than DSL that much is a fact. DSL is safer it has a better firewall and everytime you sign on you have a new IP address so you cant get hacked easily
