The issue with the bridal registry

The issue with the bridal registry

So yesterday we went to BBB and had some fun scanning stuff (I got to hold the scanner!!!!) . When we got there it was a little busy but they helped us and the woman was really nice. At both here and Macys I've felt like the woman were more salespeople than anything else. I guess in reality that's what they are. They were a little pushy about china. I don't want china and i don't need china. I think the Macy's chick got the hint immediately that we knew what we wanted (just really upgrading what we already had) but the BBB chick took a WHILE to get the hint that we knew what we wanted because I've done research on brands etc etc. FH kept walking away cause he was getting annoyed. He wanted this to be something we shared together, not a threesome. We did quite a bit on our own, but then FH's back started killing him so we had to leave. We'll probably go back, but I'm going to be upfront if they try to come with us and tell them we want to be alone.

Has anyone else had this experience? Maybe it was just us being independent.

Weird --- we never went around with anyone when we registered! they just showed DH how to work the gun, gave us a checklist of recommended items and sent us on our way. they did offer to come with us but we always declined.

the only time we sought out help was with pots/pans, we were a bit overwhelmed and wanted to hear more about the different kinds. they were helpful and not pushy.

next time go by yourselves, it's way more fun!

Ok, so maybe these women were bored or maybe we looked lost and they felt the need to lead us lol. Weird. Well at least i know this isn't the norm and the next time they go they'll leave us alone. Hopefully.

I went to the BBB in Syosset. Nick was awesome... we told him we didn't need china. He skipped right to flatware and glassware. Once we picked those he gave us the gun (even got me a wheelchair so I didn't have to walk!) and let us have at it. Checked on us once or twice... and then when we were done he did a wrap up.

So my BBB experience was GREAT. It was busy, but pretty much he left us alone unless we had questions.

That is funny when we went to BBB to register on Sat they just gave us the scanner and no one helped us.

I wrote a whole long response earlier and then my internet lost its signal..

I haven't registered with FH yet, but I did go to fortunoff with my mom to register for a few things because they had an awesome promotion going on. The lady didn't follow us around a lot but she did overload us with wayyyyy too much information that we didn't have time to process. She was talking a mile a minute and pointing out things on a sheet and then telling us where everything was located in the store and all I heard was 'womp womp womp womp womp' like in Charlie Brown..lol. So I definitely feel your pain! I will make sure it doesn't happen when FH is around because he puts on this nervous laugh and says 'ok uh huh, alrigh, ok, uh huh alright' a million times when he is annoyed by sales people and it drives me nuts!!!!

I guess I'm rude, because at BBB when the guy tried to come with us, I told him that we were going to do this on our own.

I did notice at Macys I thought there were more of a salesperson than helping me. When I was done the woman told me I needed to register for a lot more b/c I didn't have enough $$ on there. I thought that was strange.

That's what happened to me at BBB! I had 5 pages and they told me I should have at least 25.....I was shocked. They told me this is the best time to be 'greedy'. I'm not a greedy person, wasn't raised that way and to be honest felt guilty doing the registry. Feels weird dictating to people what they should buy me. I mean I do get it....I want to make sure people know what I need, but it still feels weird.

We had an issue with BBB too. FH and I already live together and have a fully furnished place, so we needed new appliances and certain other items, and we don't need fine china and daily dishes. The woman didn't even want to give us the scanner at first, she wanted us to work right down her checklist even though we only needed about 20 items. She parked us in front of fine china and told us that she would come back in a few minutes so we could discuss the fine china. We waited until she got back, then we asked for the scanner and told her that we weren't interested, and that we could walk around the store and scan stuff ourselves.... I think she was miffed, but what else were we supposed to do? FH and I are 30 and we have a fully stocked house! We have been entertaining for years, we don't need certain things!

We are both 33 and are stocked as well. We want to upgrade our current items since they were bought on a budget. We want items that will last a lifetime if possible. Feel like they all want to push china. It's crazy!

I think when i finally go to register i'm going to have an issue like that, because i already have all my kitchen stuff-from work, so we are only going to need to register for towels, bedding, and random stuff, its going to look kind of empty probably

that s*cks, i dont know why they didnt leave you alone. All 3 places we went BBB, crate and barrel and fortunoff. They gave us the scanner, showed us how to use it and left us alone. They didnt try to push us to get anything at all.

We honestly just wanted to do something wedding related that was free. The weekend before i spent a decent amount on wedding stuff so I wanted to take a break. It was a lot of fun and I hope family members take a look if they need ideas for Christmas or my birthday. Could definitely use some of the stuff now
