THE JOYS OF CHANGING YOUR NAME (LONG BUT HELPFUL FOR THOSE GETTING MARRIED)
So on Monday June 10th I was driving home from work when I got pulled over by a lovely State Trooper! So when asked if I knew how fast I was going I said “No” so he told me I was going 75 on the Sagtikos. Granted I don’t believe I was going that fast but I am not arguing with a cop, I have tried that numerous times with my Dad and I NEVER WIN! LOL. So he asked me for my License and Registration, so I gave it to him. Then he asks where I am going, so I said home so he replies that was a couple of exits ago. So I said well it’s my Mom’s address I just moved, so he goes “Oh, so this isn’t even your legal address?” So I said “Well I just got Married” so he goes “ So this isn’t even your Legal name?” I had no response LOL
So he went back to his car for like 20 minutes. I called DH freaking out. The Cop calls my Dad mind you I am 25 LOL. So he walks over now 30 mins LATER! He says “I will give you a break on speeding but I do have to give you a Summon’s” I asked why naturally and he goes “Your registration expired today! Your lucky I am not going to tow you” ARE YOU KIDDING MY REALLY?
So it was 3:30 I would have never made it to DMV so I went yesterday I went to DMV. I went there with everything to get my Name and Picture changed (because my was from 10 years ago!) and they change my name and the lady looks at me and says she can’t re-register my truck because I don’t have my title there. I said why do I need my title? She say because technically your not Colleen Mac anymore it’s not LEGAL! I have to change my name because if I get pulled over again then technically it’s not my truck! So I say “Can I re-register in my Maiden Name and when I get my new license come back and change everything?” Because I can’t come back until next week and if MTA see and Unregistered Truck they will tow me! So she goes “Well yea that’s fine” REALLY YOU JUST TOLD ME I COULDN’T AND I REWORD THE SAME QUESTION AND NOW WE CAN DO IT?
