The LAST Invite Question...

The LAST Invite Question...

I PROMISE!!!

I have the 'unmarried couple living together' part down pat...

But what about a couple who have been dating a few years who are NOT living together??

I thought that anyone who is not engaged gets 'and guest' but Vinny's family gets a little worked up when the boyfriend's or girlfriend's names of their family members are not put on invites... So, what to do?

I have a single guy and his girlfriend...

Let's call them Mr. John Doe and Miss Jane Doe ... What do I do for outer and inner?

Address both to both, even though they live at separate addresses, but mailt o only one.
My FH and I receive our invites this way. Most of our friends know our respective names and list both on invites. I find it rude to receive an invite as 'and guest'.

I just put both names on the outer & inner envelopes. But I listed them one above the other instead of putting '&' because they're not married or living together.

i have good friends who have long time boyfriends that don't live together, i addressed the outside envelope to just my friend, say:

Miss Jane Doe
123 John Street

and on the inside envelope i put

Miss Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith

I HATE INVITE ADDRESSING!!!!!

I put both names on both envelopes. Mike was a GM in a wedding a couple years ago and the couple addressed his invite to Mike L and Guest and I was furious. These people knew me well and they couldn't even write my name on the invite?

I would put both names and one invite .. it saves money on invites PLUS it makes them seem more of a couple.

Ditto! I always got offended when FH got an invitation with 'and guest' on it.

This is what I did. It just made more sense to me to address the outside to the person that actually lived there.

Re: The LAST Invite Question...

I'm not sure what's proper etiquette but I would put both names. It always seemed weird when FH and I were dating for over 2 years and we would get an invite addressed to one of us 'and guest'--especially coming from people we knew well.
Recently, a good friend of mine (who knows I'm engaged and knows FH well) sent her wedding invite to the house that FH and I live in together and addressed it to me and guest. We thought that was so strange.
