The Metropolitan

Has anybody ever been to this place for a wedding? It's in Glen Cove. If so what are your comments about it. I saw it online and from what they showed it looked nice. Thanks Ladies!!

Re: The Metropolitan

I was there a few years ago for a med school party, not for a wedding, and it is very nice. Very contemporary, not very glitzy, and the food was great!

Re: The Metropolitan

I haven't been there, but have heard good things. I know they only host one affair at a time.

Re: The Metropolitan

Sounds good so far. I also heard they were
very contemporary...sort of a Manhattan feel in Long Isand. Would anyone happen to know the price range?

Re: The Metropolitan

We looked there when we got engaged, but decided against it. If you are planning to have only 100-120 people it works out well. The place is split with an upstairs portion, and if you have over 120 guests I belive, they will seat them upstairs, thus not really allowing the bride & groom to see everyone, and vice versa. We didn't want to have to do that. Plus we felt that the band would have been right on top of everyone where the stage is situated.

But the place is really cool, and I've heard the food is outstanding. I think for a Saturday night they were charging $100-120 before tax & gratuity.

Re: The Metropolitan

I used to work for Acclaim, which is right across the street from the Met, and we used to go there every 3rd Thursday of the month for 'birthday Thursday' as it was called way back when. The company used to sponsor a 'happy hour' once a month in honor of all employee birthdays that month. Anyway, the food was always delicious, and gone very quickly. The place is great - I love how the balcony upstairs (which I believe is used for cocktails during a wedding celebration) looks down onto the recpetion floor. I think, however, that it is quite expensive.

Re: The Metropolitan

My friend got married there last summer. It was great - no complaints. The decor is very contemporary, but tasteful. The food was delicious, and the wait staff was very professional. It isn't huge though - she had about 120 and it was perfect - the cocktail hr was upstairs and reception was on the main floor. There isn't too much to see outside though - no good place for an outdoor cocktail hr or pics though - it's right on the main road.

Re: The Metropolitan

i agree with vickiec. we also checked it out for our wedding. very classy place. but very tight for more than 120 people. i heard the food is wonderful. the place seemed a little 'worn'. also, the bathrooms are very very tiny. but great decor. i think it was about $80-85 for a saturday afternoon in october. oh one more thing, major construction directly across the street.

Re: The Metropolitan

It wasnt for me exactly, but I thought it was a cool place. My favorite part was that there is this semi-circular bar with a big platform in the middle and the bands usually play on that platform in the middle of the bar. I thought that was different. The place felt kind of swanky to me, but I didnt like the idea of the split levels. just my two cents!
