Has been trying to find casual china to put on our registry!!!!! We have looked in Fortunoff's and Bloomingdale's (that's where we're registered) and we can't find anything we really love. We figure we have to love it since we will have to live with it for the rest of our lives. Plus, they're so expensive so we better love it! A lot of the china is too girly for a man to use or looks too old-fashioned for our taste. We want simple and modern. Did anyone else have trouble picking out their china too or are we just being too picky?

Re: The most difficult decision so far...
i am getting service for 12 from FH grandmother.. plus i bought a basic set from gibson for serv 12...
registering.. what about getting a basic white or cream color just with a silver band? I personally love... Pormerion
I put a very formal set on my Fortunoff registry (Noritake). Then, for the casual/ everyday, I was going to get an expensive set - but I am so picky an my taste changes all the time, I get tired of stuff easily! - I put an inexpensive but nice set on my BB&B registry. This way, if I want, I can get a new set in a few years. The formal are a nice cream color to match with anything and the casual are white with dark and lite blue borders.
PS I was OBSESSED with picking out my china to the point where I would ask FH or my friends and family for their opinion and they would just stop me and say NOT AGAIN! JUST PICK! LOL It took me about 4 months to finally pick what I want.

This is mine. You may find it too simple, but I love it. It's Nautica. We got it at Fortunoff.
Calvin Klein China is on the modern side and not too girly...they have it at both Fortunoffs and Bloomingdales.

Re: The most difficult decision so far...
I have fiestaware for my everyday... I got 10 places settings in 5 different colors. I like how you can mix and match everything. I got it because I'm not a big fan of patterns, but I'm a big fan of colors. Plus, it's affordable and collectable... they come out with new colors every few years and retire other colors....
This was a HUGE decision. We finally picked one but it was more my decision and he is getting used to liking it. It's Villeroy and Boch and we were able to mox and match but here are some of the dishes.
I went through 3 different patterns before i found these...and you do NOT have to have them for the rest of your life...they will break...you will get sick of them...and buy something else!!
Lindt-Stymeist at Fortunoffs...
Calvin Klein has a similar look as well

Re: The most difficult decision so far...
I couldn't find any that I liked at the Department stores, so I chose all of my dinnerware from Crate and Barrel:
I purchased them at fortunoff's. They are Villroy & Boch. They aren't on fortunoff's website yet though they are in the store. You can view them at Villroy & Boch under Wildberries.
I love them because they are all different but go together

Try Bed Bath and Beyond. What is nice there is that they'll refund you in cash what you return. I mean if you return a whole set of casual settings they might question it but if you get one extra you can return for cash. I don't know what you like but go and look. Some people I know have put what I would consider 'formal' china on their registry as their 'casual' and another 'formal' one as their 'formal'. All depends on what you like. Don't worry about price. If they don't buy it, then you can afterwards. Also, try Linens n Things. I actually like them more than BB&B overall (although the BB&B I went to in White Plains has the formal settings there - not all of them do). But Linens n Things had nice casual stuff too.
Don't worry it took me 2 months to decide what I liked. There's no deadline, unless it's close to your shower. I normally like very elegant and nothing too frou frou/lacey/flowery but we ended up going with Spring Vista from Lenox. It's not too flowery. It's actually the first one my FH picked which I turned my nose up at. After looking at it 1000 times on websites I grew to like it.

I thought the everyday dishes I wanted were too girly too - and they are, but when I asked FI what he liked he said he liked them best too and didn't care that they were girly looking. Shocked!
