I decided to send out text messages to my friends to get their addresses instead of having to call all of them. (I called my family members and other friends that I haven't spoken to in a while) I felt like I was going to pull my hair out when I started to get their responses. Most of my friends are single and the only ones that are invited with a guest are the ones that are in a relationship and the married ones. For some reason they all think that they are entitled to a guest. IN a perfect world I would be able to afford that but not in this lifetime. I can hardly afford the guests that we are paying for already. I wonder if they think that it's just a regular party. IT'S A CATERED EVENT!......OMG!

Re: THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS
I seriously think that until you plan a wedding or until you help plan a wedding with someone, you have absolutely no idea what goes into it. It is RIDICULOUS.
One of my single friends wrote our mutual friend (& bride) a Facebook message the night before my friend's wedding saying how she couldn't go to the wedding anymore (after RSVPing yes) with no excuse or apology. I later found out that it was because she wasn't invited with a guest. Can you believe that???

first let me say it was nice meeting you yesterday...Now I am going through the same thing. People think this is a huge party. Dont they realize we have to pay per person. why would i pay for my guest to bring some random person to my wedding. I explained i will let them know closer to the wedding if i have room. I really have no intentions on letting them bring anyone. I just dont feel like dealing with the drama

It was nice meeting you as well. We probably will see eachother again tonight. As for my friends, I am not allowing them to bring random people to my wedding especially since I am have some friends and family that I can invite over their random guest. I dont want to be rude about it but I just dont see the point in me doing that. I will make exceptions for those who dont drive and may need this random person to give them a ride but that is it. They have to be a very good friend to get that option....lol

Re: THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS
People who havent gotten married seem to have no concept of how expensive a freakin wedding is!!!
For a long time, I got 'How come you're waiting so long to get married'? (we got engaged in 07). ummm because a wedding costs more than a house. people have no clue!!

Im inviting everyone with a guest. My friends are extremely offended that they were not invited with a guest. I think if your going to do it do it right. That's my own opinion. Im guessing I'm alone on this one.

For my cousin's wedding last year...2 of our first cousins didnt show up to the wedding because their girlfriends were not invited!!! they missed out on a huge family event because of their girlfriends? and these 2 guys are 21...it wasnt even like the girlfriends were that serious!!!
and guess what?? they're not even with those girls anymore!

Our familys are both gigantic so for us its about ensuring the right people are there before someone can bring 'just anyone' to our wedding. Our guest list is at 270 and our room holds comfortable 280 so we can't really add anymore guests. There are a lot of people we just can't invite so we rather have people we love and love us back than a complete stranger.

I am doing it right. I am planning a wedding that is within my budget. If my budget permitted me to invite everyone with a guest then I would but it doesnt. Whats right for me and my FH is to invite our close friends and family that we want to share our day with and not go over our budget. At the end of the day our life has to go on after the wedding and if we spend beyond our means for one day then we would be in sad shape. People who care about us will understand. If thats not right I dont know what is.
