The Person that plan/throw your shower???

Will they automatically be the baby's God mother?? My GF was asked by a friend (not close- this girl seem not to have a lot of female friends) to assist her mother in planning her shower.

My GF does not want the responsibility of being a god mother to this girl's baby, is there a way she can find out w/o putting it out there like she is asking to be to be considered???

I told her to ask her directly who the babies god-mother will be? She said it might seem as if she will be asking to be considered and if the girl tells her yes she will be, she will not want to hurt her feelings by telling her no

I have thrown two baby showers and co-hosted two others and I have not been asked to be a god parent - this might be because they had a sister who was not close with - but I do not think that because you throw a baby shower that it makes the person elegible to be the god parent

I have thrown a couple also and wasn't asked to be the Godmother.

I have never heard of that either.

I guess the reason I asked this is b/c unless you are related to the person or close with them, people just don't throw showers for people.

Every shower that I have been to, outside of the mother or the aunt helping it was always the Godmothers who threw the shower

Since this girl seem not to have any close female friends, I think my GF might definitely be in the running and it is not a role she wants. If she takes it on, it will be b/c she felt obligated if you get what I am saying

Does she have any Godchildren? If she does she could say that she already does yada yada. I don't know that is a tough one. How do you say no to something like that. Yikes
