I sent him an invite to my wedding weeks ago and he still hasn't responded.
Think I should call him up to confirm whether he's coming or not?
Has anyone done this recently and gotten your letter from him, or know how long it takes? I know he's busy and all.

They usually only correspond if you are Catholic and getting married in the church. We requested an official Papal Blessing, but that is different than sending an invite.

What IS the difference? My mom laughed at me when I told her that I had to send the Pope and the President an invitation. She said you have to request a blessing, not send an invite. What do we actually have to do?

I got the presidents back but never the pope. I sent it in Aug, last year

There is a form that you get from your Diocese, it comes from the Chancery Office. Then you will get back a parchment with your names, a picture of the Pope and a blessing. He says a blessing over the documents once a month I think. Call the Diocese and ask for the Chancery Office, tell them you would like to apply for an official Papal Blessing, they send you the paperwork. It cost around $40 if I remember correctly.

The papal blessing is a certificate from the pope blessing your marriage. you can get the application from your parish.

Well it's good to know at least that I'm not getting a response.
We need a Frequently Asked Questions thread here with answers to the most commonly asked questions. Like the answers here. I wouldn't have sent anything if I had known.
