Not sure if everyone knows but for insurance reasons i figured i would share i went to the jewelery store the other day and i was thinking of getting another setting( very long story King Richards Jewelers s**k) Anyway they looked at my diamond and asked how much did you pay for it ,we paid $$$$ now its worth $$$$$ its insane. so im not sure if that effects the insurance you have on it already? does anyone know? Re: The price of diamonds has gone up.....
I know that within my insurance policy, it states that if the value of diamonds/gold/etc goes up, then they can pay out up to 150% of the appraised value of my ring at the time that it was insured.

I have mine through Chubb Insurance. They are a little more than others, but their policy I think is one of the best. You can look it up here...
Actually the price of my insurance went up this year. It was only $18 but still went up.

Re: The price of diamonds has gone up.....
my uncle is a jewler and he advised FH and I always to get REPLACEMENT insurance this way when the price skyrockets you won't lose out by just getting the $$$ and having to buy a smaller ring HTH

Re: The price of diamonds has gone up.....
we have a state farm policy also- it's for just the ring itself. our policy states that they will replace the ring for EXACTLY the color, cut, clarity, grade and size as stated on my GIA certificate... so if the price goes up or down in terms of value it makes no difference-- they replace the ring itself. that also saves me money on the premium b/c i'm not paying based on worth/value and it won't go up or down... so i had my jeweler appraise the ring at a lower value b/c then i'm only paying premiums on that number- and it doesn't make a difference b/c they are replacing my actual ring no matter what. so try state farm, HTH

what happens when the dimond value goes up? if something happens to it do you get the 'old' price or new one?
