The Ring?

The Ring?

Did your FH let you have a say in the ring? I'm curious to know as my FH let me pick out the ring myself. He told me since it was going to be on my hand for the rest of my life, I should choose what it was :) I happened to find a ring while at my jewelers having another ring cleaned. I told Tom all about it and asked my jeweler to hold it. We went about 2 weeks later and I was there when he bought it. They sized my finger and sized the ring for me and he was able to get it in two days. Then he hid it (very well, might I add) until he proposed! I had to wait from September until December!!!

we went ring shopping for MONTHS!!! i think FH was sick of looking at rings and would have bought me anything. I initially went looking to give him ideas. So I finally said enough was enough I'm just going to design my own ring. We went to HL gross in garden city because they have thousands of settings and diamonds. finally, i still couldnt find anything. i did see in the window they only had one in the entire store a beautiful pear shaped diamond, platinum band, with 2 baguettes. well needless to say they worked on the price and I made FH put a deposit right there on the ring! he did surprise me with the proposal where our first date was but I could kind of tell he maybe was going to do it as he was acting really weird all day! I couldn't be happier!!! :)

FH and I went ring shopping together. He pretty much had the same mentality as your FH...it was going to be on my hand so I should have input on what I'd be wearing. He just wanted me to love it. I wanted a princess cut with diamonds on the band (prong setting). Turns out that's harder to find than we thought! It actually turned into a fun experience for us to do together since we kept going to jewelry stores trying to find 'the one'. Finally, my friend recommended her jeweler to me and we had it custom made! I'm so glad FH let me choose - I asked him what he would have picked for me and it was a circle cut solitare with a white gold band - the opposite of what I actually wanted! The only thing we were on the same page with was no halo He tried to surprise me with the proposal, but I had a clue it was coming when he told me he booked a night at Oheka Castle! lol He did a good job :)

Im surprised how many of us picked our own rings! We went ring shopping together all throughout the diamond district and it was just sooooo frustrating. Between the lack of customer service and them not wanting to show any certs on the diamonds, and trying to convince us that we didn't need a certified diamond, I was just sketched out (not saying you cant find a beautiful stone or honest jeweler in the district, but we didnt have any recommendations and it just felt exhausting). So I always had my eye on this designer ring but knew we could get more bang from our buck elsewhere, on our way back uptown we stopped into the store just so I can 'visit it' and once I tried it on we both knew that was it, nothing compared! He bought it three days later and proposed 5 days later at our apartment :)

FH asked me if I wanted to pick my ring, but I wanted to have no idea that it was coming, so I told him that all I really wanted was a princess cut and a white gold band with diamonds. Actually, I don't remember if I told him I wanted diamonds on the band, but he probably figured that's what I'd want, haha. He got my FSIL involved and got her to get my ring size for him and ladies, I don't know HOW I didn't get suspicious then but I didn't.

I was expecting him to propose maybe at the end of the summer, but he did it in April so I got the surprise I wanted! (I was a little suspicious when he took me to Newport, RI but it was still more wonderful than I had ever imagined!)

We had gone to a Broadway play a few years ago and had time to kill before it started so we walked around the diamond district and I found out I liked radiant cut. I know nothing about diamonds, so that was the extent of my help. Apparently he had held onto that card for the for the two years before he bought the ring.

I expected that if he was going to propose that year, it would be when I was done with school because I didn't want to get married until I finished...so I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the propsal and his choice of ring!

fh asked me to go ring shopping in January so he'd get ideas on what I liked. I mean a ring you wear forever so he had to make sure I'd like it. then he asked me to send him a bunch of diamonds from good old gold's website and he picked one.

he didn't propose until June! I went from thinking maybe vday, till maybe easter, then maybe a romantic day in the city but nope he waited until June. drove me crazy. we almost even broke up because I thought he had changed his mind

I just told him what I didn't want. I wanted a round stone, no halo, and not a plain band. Other then that he did it totally on his own & it far exceeded my expectations! I love it more then anything I think I could have ever picked out. Pics in my album :)

I told him that I wanted a round stone, definitely not halo, and either Tiffany setting or a channel set band. I didn't see the actual ring until he proposed though. He did good, I am obsessed with it and always get compliments

He asked me if I wanted to pick it out I wanted to be suprised. He did want to go to a jeweler just to see different types of rings on my finger (lots of fun). I just told him I prefer round and white gold. He did an amazing job suprising me. I never snooped for it either cause I really did want to be suprised.

We went together to look. I knew I wanted a princess cut and platinum setting with a twisted diamond band. He went back to purchase the ring and choose the diamond.
I was totally surprised when he proposed, I guess the wine at the winery calmed his nerves...lol

He picked the ring out all by himself. He knew I liked round but also simple and traditional. He picked out the most gorgeous ring! I am completely obsessed with it. It fits me, my style & our love perfectly!

My FI's mother passed away in May. Her final wish was for us to get married and she passed the wrong along to him to give to me. He held onto it until he proposed to me on Halloween night (which was how he always pictured it). My ring is a round cut diamond which I always wanted with two bigets (which I could live without lol). It's beautiful and the fact that she passed it down to us means more to me than anything. For all I care, he could have given me a piece of string to tie around my finger.

We looked at rings together so he could get an idea of what I wanted, but luckily my future sister in law works for a jeweler and helped him out ;) I couldn't be any happier
