Does anyone know anything about the Riviera in massapequa?

We looked at it. It was beautiful but a little to pricy for us. The room was also too big for us.

Please, whatever you do, Stay Away from the Riveria! The food is horrendous! (I've been there twice already and it hasn't changed). I have another wedding to go to there at the end of the month, and I know we're going to leave hungry.
It's too bad that the food really stinks because the room and grounds are so pretty.

We're getting married there in December and we are very excited. We went to a wedding there last year and everything was great. I know that VickyC posted problems with the food, but we found the food at the wedding we went to and at the tasting to be very good.

We chose the Riviera for several reasons. First, we really liked the building and grounds. Second, we liked that we were the only wedding there. Third, we liked the food at the cocktail hour and the main course. Finally, we found the price to be reasonable.

Please let me know if you have any other questions - we are very excied to being having our wedding at The Riviera.

I'm getting married there this Friday. I was wary of the food, too, but I went to a tasting, and all was well. Also, after checking this board, I found many good reviews. Granted, it's not Le Cirque, but how many catering halls are. I suggest that you go to a tasting, or stop by my ceremony on Friday, talk to Michelle, and ask for a taste of the food they make. Good Luck with whatever choice you make.

My FH and I went there when we were looking for a hall. We wanted to get married on the water. Anyway, we did not like the mans attitude at all! He was very snotty, sort of take it or leave it attitude (re: the minimum). He would not budge and suggested us getting married on a Thursday night since it was a lower minimum. We walked out and did not look back. Granted they have beautiful grounds, but attitude is just as important. We ended up booking at John Anthony's for less money and they have an awesome staff and awesome food! Go check it out, you won't reget it!

denisemang: Do you know if they have a website or how I could contact them?

John Anthony`s

Sure. The website is www.johnanthonys.com. It has great pictures of the rooms. Also if you want to call, ask for Patti (631) 422-2400 and tell her Denise sent you from LI Weddings.com. She will know who I am. I actually just got off the phone with her. They are great!!!!!!!! Can't say enough about the place!

I just went to the site and realized that the rooms do not look like they do on the website. They have all been redone. Geourgous!! I am telling you, you have to check it out. The prices are very reasonable. I know I sound like a spokesperson, but I really love the place and the staff! I even wrote a letter to the owner on behalf of the staff!

I have to agree with denisemang. We are getting married at JA this October and I cant say enough about them. Not only were they in our price range, the amount of food and service you get from them is incredible. We also delt with Patty & Angelo. The rooms are beautiful! Good Luck =)

Hi Dawn! So you are getting married at JA's too. I know I sounded like I had stock in the place, but I have had the most wonderful experience. Don't you love Patti (she is so cute). Did you deal with Ann? I love her too. We are getting married there in 3 weeks (May 25th), its a saturday afternoon in the upstairs room.! What about you? I am so excited! I also been meaning to email you and thank you for the poems for my sister! I am doing the photo album now. I got a beautiful photo album (recyled paper with dried flowers), and I printed out the poems and am not copying pictures to corelate with the poems. Its going to be so beautiful and what a creative gift idea. Thank you so much!

Yes, I did get them at JA's. The prices were a little more than the my catalogue (Invitations by Dawn)for the same invites (only about $40 difference), but it was worth it only because Anne was so helpful and knowledgeable. Its so exciting itsn't it. I can't believe I only have 24 days! I have been engaged for 1 year and 9 months, it went soo fast! Do you mind me asking what price you are paying for a friday in Oct? We are paying $68 before tax and grat. for a saturday afternoon in May. Just curious.

We got $88 (tax & grat inc) Plus the wok, wine & vodka stations added. We only booked it 2 months ago so we just took what they had open. They had a Saturday but i think it was $106. We decided to save the money for our house. I cant wait. I order my dress on Thursday! =)
