The Riviera

Hi...I am brand new to this site. A friend of mine recommended it. I am looking into venues on Long Island. Some place with beautiful outdoor space for a ceremony. I need some honest opinions on the Rivera. I have heard such mixed reviews. Any one been to a wedding there before?

i went to look at it when i was venue searching and i wasn't impressed. i liked the high ceilings with the dark wood beams, but felt the cocktail our room was outdated, and the ceremony location felt like it was right in someone's backyard. i also didn't love the service i received their from the coordinator. that being said, i have heard the food is good and the outdoor patio area overlooking the water is really nice. also, it was much cheaper than anything else i looked at. i have heard from people who have attended weddings there that it can feel cramped.

Re: The Riviera

I really liked it there when I went to a friend's summer wedding. The outside space is great for a ceremony as well as for cocktail hour (as long as it doesn't rain). When I went back with my fiancé to look at it for us it just wasn't the right fit. I felt the inside front area and bridal suite were very dated. The inside cocktail hour area also was somewhat dated but not terrible. However, I don't remember noticing this when I went for a wedding, (and it obviously didn't stop me from going to check it out). I'd say check it out for yourself if you think you may be interested b/c it definitely is reasonably priced. Just my 2 cents

I agree with guitarstikibars. I also went to look at it and was not impressed. The woman we met with rushed us, plus they have rather high minimums for Saturdays. I was told minimum for a Saturday was 150-160 people. I personally don;t see how that many people would fit in that room. I also found the setup of the room to be odd. It is dated looking as well....very dark, like a hunting lodge. I will say the outside looked nice though.

But that's totally my own opinion....you need to see for yourself :)

I had a not so great experience there for my sisters wedding. Too long to explain, but it was enough to keep me from booking with them for my wedding

Pretty much this verbatim. Except for the cheaper part lol. It was actually the most expensive of the 3 I was looking at.

I also was NOT impressed with the bridal suite area: the bathroom they had was WAY too small. I'm only 4'10' and in certain parts I was hitting the ceiling.. and if you're getting married there... as you're leaving the bridal suite all your guests would be able to see you... so if thats something important to you (the 'reveal' so to speak)... it's something to consider.

Not my style. I went there for a showcase to see my DJ but never actually checked it out. It would have been too small for my reception anyway. I can tell you I am from massapequa & people I know have been having their Sweet 16s/weddings there for years so they must be doing something right.

I agree with guitarstikibars. I went to look at it at a showcase. The food was really good but overall it didn't give me the 'wow' factor. I didn't really like the setup of the cocktail hour room and although they told me they can fit more then 175 people in the reception area, I felt it would be really cramped. I wasn't impressed with the bridal suite either.

haha I guess I'm one of the more positive experiences there. My cousin got married at the Riviera Nov 2012 and it was fabulous. It suited her perfectly as she's a more low key bride. The venue was nicely sized for her guests. They made the menu very accommodating for her picky tastes and put a bacon cheeseburger as an entree! It was awesome. I had a wonderful time.

Never attended an event here but asked around a lot when I was considering booking my venue here. The give you a really good price for all they throw in. People I asked who have been there loved the place said the food was awesome, only bad comments were about seating .
But the bad reviews on here made me too nervous and I decided not to book.
