Re: The Running of the Brides
i have thought about going just for the experience but thats not me. i hate trying things on & every dress i have ever purchased i liked the way it looked on the hanger first. that is just too much of a disaster for me.

Re: The Running of the Brides
There was a show about the running of the brides once on tv, I saw it and i have to say that place gets insane! people run all over the place grabbing whatever dresses they can, and you try them on right there, no fitting rooms LOL. some brides seven trade dresses with others so that they can try on otherones that other brides didnt like or were too small ect. The bride in the show woke up at like 3 am and sent her FH to get in like for her until she appeared like 3 hours later lol. and when he got there, i believe there were ppl even caming out for the night there. They do have pretty awesome sales, but IMO I wouldnt go thorugh all that stress. On the other hand they have a good quantity of dresses from great designers and they are such a steal. If your on a budget or want a less expensive dress so you can splurge on something else, then totally go for it.
ETA: I was just on the site reading what was on there and I couldnt help but laugh when they say that when they first open the racks are bare in the matter of seconds and the employees have to hold the fixtures so they dont fall, and then by like ten a.m. many of the dresses are put back and there are still major quantities to choose from except without all the madness.... Hey, now I might even go.

Re: The Running of the Brides
I saw the girls lining up last year when I was working in Union Square. It was scary, like these girls will beat u up!!!
I did ask my bridal consultant about sample sales and these types of events - she said its really not worth the stress.

It looks fun...that would be a great place to blow off some wedding planning steam. Maybe push or punch a few ppl in the process it could be some stress relief..lmfao...That would be a nice story to tell like Hey i got my dress and punched a few ppl in the process to get it..lol..I saw that tv show it was on TLC, it's just so funny that the brides make up their team shirts and wear wacky things so they can distinguish their 'team' from others. It looks fun to me, in a way.

It looks fun and brides to be have been doing that since 1947, a little part of tradition also.

Re: The Running of the Brides
My friend actually went to that in Jersey last year...shes an '09 bride. She said that it was very exciting- but there wasnt a large amount of designer dresses- and that if you go later the madness has calmed down...I dont think I want that to be my dress buying experience

Re: The Running of the Brides
I went to the last one, I got there around 4 or 5pm and there were still TONS of dresses, and a LOT less people. I would recommend getting there after 12 or so, the dresses are back on the rack and you are able to go through them without the hassle of 100s of people grabbing the same dresses
