The saving money post got me thinking......

Are there any ways you all are trying to save money with the actual wedding. Any good tips I should know about?

Re: The saving money post got me thinking......

the only reason i am able to have my dream wedding is bc of my date

so far i have saved on practically everything from the hall to the DJ to the photog/video all bc i am having a winter wedding! - it was the only time we could have the wedding ANYWAY bc of FH's job - but seriously it has made such a difference!

my florist is also helping me out A LOT - i am using Designs by Rose - and they are too funny they will NOT let me go over budget - even when my mom tries to add stuff they basically tell her right away when we are going over budget. . . it was really really helpful bc flowers are SO EXPENSIVE!

i am also not doing ANYTHING extra - no DIY projects - nothing! lol

right now we have a VH and an after hours at JT BUT if we are over our budget then we will cut those out - but i dont think we will bc these are things that my guests will enjoy ( hopefully!)

The most important thing is to sit down with FH and figure out what you make, what you spend & how much you can save per month. I created about 4 excel spreadsheets. Everytime we spend a dime, it is now recorded. This way we can realize where we are wasting money. At the end of the month, whatever is leftover from our 'allowances' will be pushed right into the savings. Also, eat @ home, limit entertainment expenses and be honest with people. If you dont have the money to go out on Sat. night, then just stay home. We dont believe in maxing out credit cards, but would still like to have the wedding of our dream. Just keep saving.

MY FH AND I ARE SAVING A LOT DUE TO THE FACT WE ARE PLANNING SO FAR IN ADVANCE.. WHEN WE BOOKED AT GIORGIO'S JUST A 1 WEEK DIFERENCE SAVED US $5,000. WE LOCKED IN ALL 06 PRICES FOR ALL OUR VENDORS. OUR FLORIST IS A CLOSE FRIEND OF MY FH SO THAT HELPS A GREAT DEAL. MY GOWN I SAVED FROM $1,500 TO $850.. SAME EXACT DRESS. THE WEDDING CENTER IN COMMACK HAS VERY REASONABLE GOWNS. LOOK INTO IT.. THEY ARE VERY RUDE, BUT THEIR PRICING IS WORTH IT. BUT TO BE HONEST WITH YOU GIRLS WE HAD TO MOVE IN W/ FUTURE IN-LAWS TO BE ABLE TO SAVE FOR OUR WEDDING AND OUR HOME IN NC. GOODL LUCK TO ALL.

Great advice! I wish my FH was more willing to be organized with our spending... but then again, he's the one making the money, I'm still in school

I am going to have ING deduct $ automatically from my paycheck cause I am a horrible saver.
