The smaller things to get...

What are some of the smaller things that may be overlooked that you need to get?
Ex: Sign in book, table cameras, etc.

Ok, call me dumb . . . .but, what in the hell is a sixpence??

**suddenly remembering a childhood nursery rhyme that goes, 'something, something, something . . .and sixpence______ . . . .uh, four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. When the pie was open the birds began to sing . . . blah, blah, blah'**

Re: The smaller things to get...

I would think having a coin in my shoe wouldn't be very comfy!

I was making a list and came up with another one. Picture frames to display around the reception hall and cocktail hour.

Stuff to throw at the church. Or bubbles.

Re: The smaller things to get...

Radiostar here is the nursery rhyme you were thinking of and it's meaning (It has nothing to do with weddings but I love nursery rhymes!!):

'Four and Twenty Blackbirds':

A pocketful of sixpence and a handful of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds were baked in a pie.
And when the pie was opened,
The birds began to fly.

The king was in his counting house,
Counting out his money.
The queen was in her parlour,
Eating bread and honey.

The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes,
When along came a blackbird,
And pecked off her nose.

This rhyme originates as a code by which pirates, reavers, thieves, and freebooters could recognize each other. A pocket filled with sixpencees and a plenitude of liquor (rye whiskey) are the wages promised to the recruit to piracy. The pie is a ship full of blackbirds or pirates, perhaps following Blackbeard, and this ship is a scourge on organized society, the patriarchy of kingship in control of finance, the disparaged matriarchy of queen, and then the maid, the young woman whose assaulted nose is obviously a metaphor for sexual violation.

Re: The smaller things to get...

Not to get off the subject of this topic, but I don't remember it that way

I remember:

Sing a song of sixpence, a pocketful of rye
Four and twenty black birds baked in a pie
When the pie was opened, the birds began to sing
Wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the King

The King was in his counting house, counting out his money
The Queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey

The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes,
Then came along a blackbird,
And snapped off her nose!

Sorry, just reading Miss Linda's brought back some memories!

Re: The smaller things to get...

Sorry to get off the topic completely . . . I've heard different versions too. Nursery rhymes and fairy tales tend to have different versions since they were passed on orally a long long long time ago.

BACK TO THE TOPIC what about a change of shoes (or sneakers) for reception if you need them. .. .
Ring Bearer's pillow or flower girl basket if you have a RB or FG
