I went to look at it. It was ok. Definatly not one of the best places I've seen for a wedding. For your e-party it might be nice. The prices weren't too bad. It just seemed to me to have a 'run down' kinda feel..at least on the outside. The rooms were a bit better.

We had our work party there (teacher end-of--year party). The food wasn't great, it was a place I would hold conferences or dinner meetings on a budget.

Re: The Sterling???

my friend had her wedding there in Nov. it's not as pretty on the outside or in the lobby as other places, but the rooms were nicely decorated, and my DH really liked the food. i thought it was good, he still talks about how much he enjoys it. the only thing is that during her reception, there was also a sweet 16 going on in the next room, so we had to share the bathroom w/ a bunch of teenagers. for people getting married there, the chapel is really pretty.

I just had my engagement party there a month ago and it turned out beautiful. Initially the guy gave us a hard time but the day off - he gave us a bunch of things for free and everyone was raving about the food! Hopefully you have a nice day - and you can take outdoor pics. It's very nice.

I just was there last weekend. Food wasnt too great, and the chicken marsala was gross! It does have a run down feel to it. The rooms are nice inside, the bathrooms were also nice. For an engagement party I think it will be fine though. If they took some time and redid the place it would be beautiful. JMO. Sorry if i offend anyone.

Re: The Sterling???

The food was horrible. I have seen better places. Sorry if I offened anyone, just not my choice for a Wedding or Engagement Party. I went there because we have a tight budget for our wedding, but when me and my fiancee talked about it. We both couldn't see getting married there.

Thank you girls!!! I made an appointment with another place, Caffe on the Green for Saturday!
I'm excited about that!

Cafe on the Green is a much better choice. I heard they redid it. The last time I went there the food was really good.

Also, Fox Hollow was a pretty good bang for the buck. I thought they threw alot for the price. They quoted me $90 on a saturday night including a seafood boat, chair covers, and dessert trays on the tables. They were giving us alot. And that was before negoitaiton. We didn't take it but I thought it was a good deal.

Re: The Sterling???

I'm looking to pay around $60.00 per person. This E-party is getting out of control!!! We have 130 people on this list as of now. Its like a mini wedding! I wish I didnt have the budget issue!

Where did you wind up booking?

Re: The Sterling???

I booked the Royalton. It is more than the average catering hall but I don't think it was astronomoically priced. I think it is worth it.

Did you look into Thatched Cottage. Alot has to do with the time of year you are getting married and the day of the week. I choose to do a Sunday eve to keep costs down. I am a teacher and so are most my friends and family so I'm doing it as soon as school lets out so we don't have to wake up on Monday. Also my parents and friends are in their mid 60's so many are retired. It worked out well.

I think you might like Cafe...good luck

Re: The Sterling???

What about Verdi's of Westbury. We are having our Wedding there and they quoted us a reasonable rate. They gave us a full Venetiese hour(spelled wrong) seafood boat and Yada Yada.
