The Swan

The Swan

Who watched it last night? Be honest! hehe.

I think they did some amazing extreme makeovers. Of course at the end it becomes, but you still aren't pretty enough for the beauty contest or you made it to the beauty contest and now others with judge you and decide if you are really that pretty. Only Fox would have it where your personal development is the measure of success, not the exteral judgements. At least this show uses a therapist on the team.

I got the feeling though that the girl that didn't make it to the contest was fine with it because she felt better about herself (as the other one did too).

There's nothing like FOX.

I was actually flipping back and forth. I don't know if this is a show I would continue to watch.

I admit it .. I watched . Right after AI and I didn't change the channel. While I don't mind the concept of the makeovers per se, I DO mind the fact they are sticking them into a BEAUTY contest in the end .. that part is stupid to me..

I thought the girl who was picked looked GORGEOUS in the end ... she was the one whose husband was being less than supportive ... wait until he sees her now, wow!

I watched and I don't think I will be watching again unless there is nothing else on TV! I can't believe how crazy reality TV has gotten!

I watched it.

And I'm annoyed. The more and more these shows go on the more & more women are being fed the message that it is only the outside appearance that matters. I didn't think that those women were so hideous that they needed that level of surgery.

I wouldn't be surprised if 'regular' women now go into hock to get surgery so they fit this 'fake' standard.

I think people should realize that beauty fades whether natural or plastic... and it's your deeds and actions that you are remembered for.

I don't think that stupid contest matters in the end. Even if one girl on each show doesn't make it, they just got about $20-$30,000 worth of plastic surgery for nothing! And they look better than they did before, so what is there to complain about?

I don't think this show is so bad because if I had the money, I'd get some things myself, but I don't want it bad enough to go broke over it. I think the thing in the end is that at least they can feel good about themselves.

Re: The Swan

Danielle and I watched it, and we didnt think it was that bad. I actually thought it was one of the better reality shows. I could not believe that the host of Paradise Hotel was the host on this show though.

I think Rachel looked amazing. She looked 100% better than the other girl. She needs to get rid of her husband now, he is a moron. I am sure that things are going to change for her marriage as soon as she gets back home. I think the changes are going to be good fer her and bad for him. What a loser.

Danielle and I both felt the same about the other girls makeover. We both thought she looked like a Porn Star after her makeover. I really didnt even think she was that pretty.

You can tell by the way the doctors acted after she was revealed that they felt the same. They saw that Rachel was more into it than the second girl was...and their reaction to Rachel was greater than the second girl.

I agree. Shows like this and Extreme Makeover make me sad too. Seeing the way these people hate themselves so much... I feel so bad for them that they have such low self-esteem.

I'm not too crazy about the concept of this show. It makes it seem as if these women become 'winners' only after the surgery.

I agree. I was kind of watching too. I forget the girls name, but when her boyfriend saw her, he said 'wow you look beautiful'. I was a little taken back by his remark.. I looked at FH and said, he should have said you look even MORE beautiful. His statement implied that she was not beautiful before. I feel bad for these people too. It's really sad.

Re: The Swan

I watched it, but was mad at myself for watching it, because I don't want FOX to get the idea to make even more shows like this due to high ratings. I mean, how much do you wanna bet they will make a male verison of this show?

I felt really bad for these girls. They make it seem like they were MONSTERS before, and that was not the case. In the end, Rachel did look great, and needs to get rid of that LOSER of of husband ASAP. Did you hear their phone conversation? WOW. Kelly needed/still needs serious therapy. That girl just had some serious issues that she needs worked out. I mean, she had to be heavily sedated to go to the dentist.

I'm not sure if I will watch again. I really don't like the concept - It kinda just makes me sad what is this world coming to?

yeah I caught what her boyfriend said too and I was thinking the EXACT same thing...it really is sad.

Definitely she should dump him! He was SO uninterested in what she was doing .. I felt so bad for her, all her life the men in her life just put her down. The hubby in the beginningof the show called her 'average' ! This was HER HUSBAND he should have thought she was beautiful !! (and heck,he wasn't such a stud himself!)

Its funny b/c my FH also said that he thought the other girl (blondie) looked a little 'porn-star' - ish .. Too blond, too big boobed ..
Danielle&Scott Posted:

Re: The Swan

Well the dress the blond was wearing was nasty, and it just pushed her boobs up and together, it looked nasty. Her hair was way too blond....Her boyfriend liked the way she looked....I think he hsa been watching too much porn.

Was it just Danielle and I that thought the two girls lips were too full after the surgery? It seemed lie Rachel couldnt close her mouth all th way.

If I was her, I would divorce the husband....and I am sure she will have no problem meeting another man that will show interest in her....

Her father and her husband both contribute to her low self esteem. I cannot believe that her husband called her average...He looked like the father from swiss family robinson.

Re: The Swan

I'm sure some girls don't mind the porn star look. That's how Pamela Anderson looks, and I know she probably has no problem getting men. I wonder what she looked like before all her plastic surgery.

That's not good how the husbands seemed like they had no problem with them getting all that work done. My FH gets annoyed if I tell him I'd like to get something done. I think he'd get mad if I actually did go for some sort of plastic surgery.

And that's the collagen in their lips that makes them look so plump. Sometimes they overdo them. Like Melanie Griffith's lips. Those things are horrible.
Anniegrl Posted:

Re: The Swan

It was actually fat that was injected into their lips. My friend just got this done - after they do lipsuction, they take some of that fat and inject it in your lips. It supposedly lasts longer than collagen.

I thought Rachel looked great but the blond - yuck! She was so annoying too with all her crying. And she tried to weigh her boobs???
