The Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling

The Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling

My wedding is in two weeks and we are wondering if anyone who has had a wedding at Dowling could help us. We are having the Standard Menu which includes one station and the bistro table and passed horsdourves (sp?) at the cocktail hour. We are concerned that this might not be enough food. If you have had your wedding there or were a guest could you please let me know if you think this is enough food? Thanks!

I haven't been to a wedding there, but I have been to other weddings that were catered by Lovin' Oven, and there was more than enough food. Not to mention it was SOOOO yummy! Everything will be great. Did you use Audrey's for your cake? I am getting married at the Bourne Mansion and they use the same cake baker. If you did, I'd love to hear what you thought. Good luck, congrats, and relax and enjoy these two weeks!

I have had the cake from Audrey's - I am having my e-party at Timber Point (Lessings) and they use Audrey's. I had the white cake w/ cannoli filling at the Riverview (who also is lessings and uses Audrey's) and it was delicious!!! We ordered the sme cake for our e-party!

Thanks! I'm very glad to hear that! I just always think of cakes that are included as not being as good, but I think it's just a thought that has never even been backed up with fact. Just a fear I guess!

I am having my wedding there also and I just picked my menu. I'm having the cheaper of the menus and in mine there are 2 stations included. They recently upgraded the menu, so you should double check if they will give you an additional station.

I would not be worried about the amount of food. I went to a wedding there last year and there was only the bistro table and pass arounds. I thought there was plenty of food, even without any stations.

I had my wedding there a month ago and I have the same menu as lulu (we got the upgrade too). Our guests definitely had enough to eat - some commented that they were too stuffed at the end of the evening to even take the chocolate truffles - some of these guest I know are big eaters too. I would not worry.

I went to a wedding there in October (but I hear the menu options have changed) and I felt like the cocktail hour didn't not have a lot...it seemed like crudite, cheese and some passed plates...thats it...no stations at all..

either way the main course is a healthy portion...

I had the same concerns between the standard and the premium menus. I recently saw a video of a wedding at Vanderbilt, it only showed the cold bistro display, it looked fabulous, not only were there plenty but the presentation was great too. I can only hope that the hot stations / passed hor d'oevres are similar.

I am also having a Sunday wedding. Mine will be in the early afternoon, so I felt a little better also that people will generally not want to eat as much as if it were a Saturday night?

GOOD LUCK on your wedding day! Please share your review when you get a chance.
