I'm new - tonights my first night so I don't know if this topic has been covered or is appropriate but here goes - anyone having anything to say about The Wedding Center in Commack or Estelles? good or bad? especially for ordering wedding gowns?

Haven heard great things about the wedding center in commack. and Estelles doesnt have a big selection (when I was there it was lots of old styles)

Commack is great to try things on b/c they carry ALOT of dresses and the prices are great but I think everyone pretty much agress the customer service is really lacking! There are a few horror stories on here about them.
ETA. I dont think Estelles really has alot to try on. Try Macy's of manhasset, RK bridal, or even bloomingdales or Jessica Mcclintock.

I actually got my dress at Estelle's
Maybe for some the dresses were old fashioned but i was looking for long sleeves and beading
and i found a wonderful gown that i never wouldve picked out on my own
i liked estelles because it was easy to walk through the gowns and pick out a few at a time and for me, i loved how i could pot the gown on myself but hav ethe attendant zip or button it up for me ...i was self conscious about them seeing me in my underwear
and since it was in my size and was more cost effective, i took it home that day!!!
I got my dress at Estelles. They don't have maggie sotoro's or whatever But I got an amazing dress for 600 $. Advice: go to other stores first. Get the amazing service, get the advice about what type of dress of looks good on you... then go to Estelles. The sales people are not gunna oogle over you or give you any advice worth hearing. You have to bring people with you and have an idea of what looks good. Also, If the measuring seems a little odd, ask for the manager, she is a seamstress and will measure you correctly. They don't do alterations and from what I hear don't let the wedding center do your alterations.
Here is a picture of my dress... I don't think it is an 'old Style' However it is not altered yet so don't mind the fact that it is 8 feet too long
I've heard good things about Estelle's. Someone I work with got her dress there & was very happy. I had a bad experience with Wedding Center in Commack a long time ago and it sounds like they haven't gotten any better. Be careful with them.

It's hit or miss at Estelles... FMIL got her dress there but my mom hated everything. Customer service is non-existant.
TWC - well, I think they are way over priced and also lack in the customer service department. When my mom and FMIL went there, they rushed them thru every dress.

I'd look at Estelle's but have other options. I went b/c I had time to kill before a 3pm appt at the Bridal Garden in Bethpage.
It's good to browse on your own & try on a few. The sales help was a little rude, but iit is find if you are going to do your own thing.
I also went there for shoes & they were also rude & clueless.

Skip the wedding center if you can. I haven't heard anything good - especially in the area of photogragphy.

Don't know about estelle's, but i would not recommend the wedding center. they are all about gossip. i went there with my MOH and the this lady knew a family member of mine so she decided to tell all the ladies about my family's misfortune in the last 3 years, which was none of her business. she paid more attention to telling stories then helping me. never will i go back.

The wedding center ignored me and my BP. I got my dress at Estelle's and am so glad I did , becuase it became discontinued and every where else I went they did not have it and the sales help at other stores told me customers were looking all over for the dress I got. I was very pleased and happy there! HTH
