The Woodlands

After looking at a few places I keep going back to The Woodlands. I just can't get the same feeling of warmth and coziness that I do there!
Has anyone been married there? I'm nervous because I can't really find many reviews!
Help.

My cousin had her parent's anniversary party there and it was just amazing. Everything was wonderful. It is a beautiful place.

I am getting married there this Saturday!!! I will let you know, but so far I am obsessed with everything they do! We picked it because my fiance went to a wedding there (i was away, so i wasn't with him) but told me afterwards that when we get married, we are getting married there..He said it was the best wedding he had ever been to...AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING..not like regular catering hall food. I love it! I totally recommend it! You should go eat in the restaurant upstairs. It's the same food, so see if you like it. That's what we did...and their service is awesome!

Re: The Woodlands

We are getting married there in June - I felt the same way. The place is amazing. If you search 'Woodlands', you will see a bunch of great reviews and pics. I have heard nothing but good things about the place and the food. The only negative I've heard is that they do seem to go through the personnel who are in charge of booking the place frequently - yet every bride who has her wedding there has commented that it wasn't a problem on the big day.

Meanwhile, I just saw your wedding date as January - what a perfect place in the winter time with all the fireplaces and ambiance!! I say go for it. :)

Congrats! I'm sure you'll have a beautiful day!

After visiting a few times and reading the reviews I'm totally convinced.
I'm going to take my FH there to see it and we'll have dinner in the restaurant afterwards.
I hope he loves it like I do. He is a lot harder to please. Being that he was born in Italy and is an EXCELLENT cook himself (you all know how Italians feel about their food) I hope he enjoys it!

Last Saturday I looked at a few other places with my MOH. The Carltun in Eisenhower Park which was beautiful but too costly. We’re having a smaller wedding (125-150 guests) and I felt like the ballroom was too large. It wouldn’t have that warm intimate feeling I want.
I also went to the Westbury Manor and I was totally shocked at how I was treated. First off let me say that WM was on the top of my list because my cousin had gotten married there a few years ago and I remember loving the place. It wasn’t the typical catering hall, it felt like you were in someone’s home which I love.
When I called to make an appointment I was told I could come in anytime between 10am and 5pm and someone would be able to meet with me. When I first walked in I thought to myself this is not the place. Yes it was beautiful but there was way too much going on. There were people everywhere, wait staff rushing through the lobby, the bar to the left was packed and very loud. Don’t get me wrong, I love noise and crowds, I am a city girl. But when it comes to my wedding we really want a low-key relaxed feel. My MOH whispered to me “no way”, but we decided since we are there and we traveled all the way from Astoria, Queens we might as well hear what they have to say. We met with a Mel and he immediately offered us something warm to drink (it was FREEZING Saturday) and something to eat. He was really nice at first telling me that he is going to make me happiest bride ever. After he finished his explanation of what would be offered he told us the price $81.00 pp Saturday night in January, $96.00 pp with the Viennese Hour. My MOH and I were shocked because I had been getting much higher quotes. After he told us the price I started to think that maybe this is the place. Mel showed us the rooms and after I started asking basic questions I realized that he wasn’t as nice as I thought. First I couldn’t understand when he was explaining that I couldn’t have specific rooms at certain times after he told me in his office something different. So when I asked him he got nasty with me and spoke to me like I was a child. He seemed annoyed that I was asking questions. He was trying to convince me that I should start the cocktail hour at 8:00PM! So I mentioned to my MOH that I would have to see what time I want my ceremony to take place. He then chimed in telling us that no Catholic Church will perform a wedding ceremony after 3:00PM. When my MOH who had just gotten married 10/11/08 @ 4:00 PM in our church told him that he refused to listen. I couldn’t believe how he was acting. So we go back up to his office and now he’s going over the menu in more detail. When he starts explaining the cocktail hour selections it was very confusing and I asked him to explain it again, he actually had the nerve to tell me “sweetheart I just explained it to you”. I was so frustrated I just asked him if everything was explained in the paperwork so I could read it over when I got home, he said he hadn’t read it in a while and he proceeded to read it over. He says that it doesn’t explain it so he made notes for me to understand. He also argued with my MOH about DJs and what their minimum hours were.
I could go on but to sum it up I felt like all he cared about was getting me to book the place. He was very nice as long as we sat there and didn’t ask him anything. As soon as we did he acted like he was annoyed and didn’t want to be bothered. And the truth of the matter is there were 10 more brides outside waiting to see him so he really didn’t care about me. I thought WM would be different but I was disappointed because it felt like another “wedding factory”. No offense to those WM brides. I’m sure you’re weddings were beautiful there. I just had a really bad experience and he totally turned me off. Yes, the price was well below any other but to be perfectly honest, even though we are on a budget, I can’t imagine spending my special day in a place that I feel badly about regardless of how much money I will save.
Immediately following that meeting I called Maureen @ The Woodlands and asked if I could stop by with my MOH. She said of course and again as soon as I drove up the long driveway and walked into The Woodlands I knew this was the place. I was greeted with friendliness and felt so warm and at home.

To all you other soon-to-be Woodlands brides, please keep us posted on how it went!
