I am very new to this and am starting to get overwhelmed...I guess being a Libra and totally indecisive does not help...Ugh.
I have looked at 7 places...and have started to realize that once a budget and style in mind - your selection becomes slim. I think 'The Woodlands' is it? It is the only venue out of all 7 that i like and it is beautiful. Does anyone have any newer reviews, comments, etc.? Looking at the room - is the dance floor big enough? I know the room is more rectangular - but, if you have had a wedding there - does the room work nicely during the receiption?
Helpp!!! Thank you in advance.

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
I liked the woodlands too but I felt the dance floor would we too small even though I have heard on here that it fits well over 200 guests. I would have totally booked it if I was having a smaller wedding...I thought it was gorgeous!
Did you check out the Bourne Mansion, a friend of mine got married there and it was spectacular!

I looked at the Woodlands and really thought it was beautiful. I thought it was spacious enough for our guest list of 200. I hae never been to a wedding there, so i can't say for sure. Good luck

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
Ok, my girlfriend and my cousin got married there in April and here is my honest opinion. First, the place is absolutely beautiful and you have AWESOME photo ops not only inside but, weather permitting, outside too. The food was incredible! I honestly didn't eat that much at the CH only because I was in the BP and was mingling and bending the elbow a little, (hell, it's called a COCKTAIL hour for a reason ). But the entrees were probably some of the best I've ever had, and I'm not just limiting it to wedding food. It was OUTRAGEOUS!
The downsides, I honestly didn't like the shape of the room. I felt like A LOT of the important parts of the wedding like the father/daughter dance, the garter, cutting the cake, etc were all missed because people really couldn't see what was going on. Granted their band ****** so a lot of people weren't on the dance floor but it was just a lot for people to weave in and out of tables to get to the dance floor the way it was set up. Second, I thought their service was disgraceful. When I tell you everything was RUSHED SOOOO BADLY it wasn't even funny. NO JOKE, I literally had taken one of my last bites of food when the waitress TOOK MY PLATE OUT FROM UNDER ME and in the same fell swoop also asked if I wanted coffee or tea. I was so blindsided my FH turned around and said, 'Now?' And she was like, 'oh no, I'm just taking orders.' Literally 4 minutes later coffee was out. That just left a bad taste in my mouth. Your guests are here to celebrate and enjoy themselves, not shovel their food in their mouth just to be escorted out the door in the next breath.
I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer, I just want you to be aware of things you may want to bring up at a contract signing. GOOD LUCK!

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
I'm a Woodlands Bride myself and I have to admit, I initially had the same reservations as you. We are having about 175 people at our wedding and I am a little worried that the dance floor might be a bit small (once the band is set up and all).
At first, I was worried about the rectangular shape of the room as well (guests not being able to see what's going on in the center of the room) but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that these small things are part of what makes the Woodlands unique. I had to remind myself that it wasn't built as a catering hall, and I kind of like that it still has that old world feel.
I HOPE that when my wedding comes around in Sept. that my guests will see these little things as giving the RH some character instead of something to be annoyed with
In the end... i think you need to go with the RH you feel most comfortable at!! It's your day

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
Thank you for the reviews! I love the grounds...love the feel of the old mansion...very romantic. If you pick apart each place something could be wrong with it...so I guess I have to think about what is more important! ....I am leaning more towards booking. Eek!
Good luck to you all.... I hope this part of the process is most difficult and it doesnt get more challenging than this!

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
I just got married there on Saturday and it was AMAZING. I got a million complements before the end of the reception! We only had 150 people, but I think it fits at least 25-300 comfortably. We didn't hear any complaints about people feeling too far from the dance floor.
We felt the same way about finding a place looking for the right one. We saw about 25-30 halls before deciding on the Woodlands, and we're so happy we did. The food was FANTASTIC, and the place itself is gorgeous. FM me if you want more info!

we went there too and the place is lovely..but i have to admit it was the dance floor that was the deal breaker since it is sort of oddly spaced out

Re: The Woodlands Reviews?
i went to a very close friends wedding there and it was one of the top 5 places (of 30) that we saw. Please feel free to FM if u have specific questions. Shape was fine (strange but workable) and good to split people yup young one one side- older on the other side of the room. good service. plenty of room for every one who danced (which was everyone who was there!)
