Theme?

Theme?

Do I really need one? And if so, what are some ideas for a September wedding? I am from Texas and FH is from LI. I somehow doubt he'll want to play along with this idea, but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Nope, you don't need one. Do it if you think its fun, but it is in no way required!

I really don't think you need a 'theme' - however, i would pick a color scheme and go with that. It will help you to decide on invitations, BM dresses, flowers etc and will also set the tone to your wedding (i.e. - black BM dresses, red roses, nightime formal wedding). I feel like themes are better left to sweet 16s and bar mitzfahs - JMO.

I don't have a 'theme' per say but my colors are gold/cream. Almost EVERYTHING are in those colors. The closest I am getting to a 'theme' is candles. I will have a candle light ceremony and have candle place cards. That just happened and wasn't planned. Do whatever you like

I don't think you need one. I've actually never heard of themes for weddings until I started coming to this site. I don't know if you would consider this a theme, but I am utilizing my colors as my theme. My colors are Wine & Champagne, my placecard holders will be mini bottles of red wine and my favors are going to be wine charms. Can you tell our families are a bunch of winos?

Anyway, I am babbling, to make a long story short, no you do not need one. Whew! I'm done!

I don't think themes are necessary at all. Like OCtbride I hadn't heard of them until this site.

Re: Theme?

I am also a September bride and my theme, if you want to call it a theme, is elegance! I really don't think themes are necessary for weddings and can sometimes take away from the elegance of the affair as some (not all, just the extreme cases) can go a bit overboard with a theme. So unless there is something you are overwhelmingly passionate about, skip the theme, save it for a house party. Don't feel obligated to come up with a theme.
A wedding itself is kind of a theme, it is about love, celebration and a new beginning and is nicest when kept simple and elegant.
Of course, the above is JMO, so all you theme lovin ladies out there go with you bad self!

Re: Theme?

I guess my theme fell in place after I knew what favors I wanted. I love the pear candles w/ on the leave would say 'Danielle&Rob, the perfect pair'. I love those. I guess my pear theme followed. I am having mini brass pear placecard holders and found pear STD magnets. Not going crazy with this theme though-that's about it.

Re: Theme?

I wouldn't do a theme if FH doesn't really go for the idea. I'd just pick the colors and stick with elegant.LOL
