Theme for engagment party

OK so FH & I are getting married next year Memorial weekend, & My Mom is throwing us an engagment party this Memorial weekend. I wanted it to be fun & have a theme, we are not having a theme for the wedding. Any ideas on colors & themes I don't want to do the same color as the wedding which will be a pool blue.
Both of are families are from the Islands. I was thinking maybe an island theme but ....IDK,

what about a luau??

u can get tiki torches for dirt cheap at party city or pier1 or walmart..

and party city has awesome citronella candles that will go with the hawaiian theme...

u can make margaritas, and other tropical drinks

Yeah do a Luau! I've been to those and they are a blast...

You can roast a pig, wear grass skirts, drink bahama mama's, make a spiked punch...

Ohhhh and you can do little tiki men as centerpieces! And tons of islandy colors like turquise and pinks and oranges...

Fh and i are having a luau hopefully for rehersal dinner,,, thats the plans as of now lol

im telling u..those tiki torches are like 4$ each and they totally transform the backyard.


pig roast sounds awesome!!!!!!!!!!! and when its like cooked but still roasting... stick pinapples all over the suckker with wooden skewers. o mannn

OK ladies sounds like fun My Mom is def not going for the rosted pig. Won't a luau be to casual for an Engagment party I want something classy but yet stil fun, I know my guest & I will be 'dressed up' so I'm not sure how to really pull this off ......HELP ladies.......the tiki I'm def going to look into

u can still have a classy affair with a luau /hawaiian theme...

just dont go overboard with lil trinkets and plastic decorations lol. basically...dont buy more than 20$ worth of stuff at party city.. and you'll be safe.


if ur going to have tables ..use tropical colored LINEN..not plastic tablecloths..as for centerpieces.. 1st thing that pops into mind is pinapple..not sure yet of an exact idea.. or get those hot colored flowers from the supermarket..they are like 10$ a boquet and look sooo hot.

if u have a pool..u can put lilly pad flowers to float in the water and maybe floating candles?

as for music.. do classy SOFT island music...not MR BOOMBASTIC lolwell wait til ppl start drinking to put that on lol
