For those of you who are...how many people from your school are you inviting??? My dept is waaaaay to big to invite everyone (around 50 people if you include all the part timers...im special ed in a middle school) so I have to pick and choose which is sooo hard, plus im good friends with some people outside of my dept...i want to set a number kind of and then go from there with the invites...also, are you supposed to invite your principal and AP????

personally, i'm not inviting anyone from work, but that's not necessarily the norm. i think it really depends on the culture of the building, so you may want to ask around about what former brides in your school have done in terms of inviting administrators. with a department that big, you should probably cast a pretty defined net (i.e. people that you call/see outside of school, people you've known for a long time, etc.) so you don't hurt anyone's feelings. good luck!

I am also special ed in a MS----I do RR so I push in regularly and am closer to my co-teachers than people in my dept. I invited my dept. chair, and the 6 teachers that I work with and push into! If you don't cut it off somewhere, it's ridiculous!

I teach 8th grade in a small private school in Nassau. It is really no secret who I am closest with in my school and I really only plan on inviting them. I figure we are all adults and are not in school where you have to invite everyone.
I am inviting my principal but only because I think she is the greatest and would love to have her there. I wouldn't feel obligated to invite them though.

i'm inviting a lot of co-workers.. but that's cause they are also friends.. so i think my case is different.. example.. one of my coworkers is my aunt.. the other is her best friend who has known me since birth.. (was at my christening etc) several others i go to church with.. some i was raised with another i travel with and we keep each others kids for babysitting purposes.. i have very few obligatory invites.. ap's and principal.. my principal and i are really REALLY cool so i think, no i KNOW he'd be offended if i didn't invite him and i cna't see myself not inviting him...and maybe two whom i wish i hadn't invited..
all in all.. hmm.. prob 20 people from work..

I'm really not sure what to do either. There is really only 1 or 2 teachers I speak to outside of school, but I'm friendly (but not friends) with a whole bunch. If I invite the principal, then I feel like I have to invite the 2 ap's -- one is my immediate supervisor, and I am not close with here at all -- I think it might be easier just to invite noone and say it was really small.

I'm in a co-teaching room, so I only invited the 2 other teachers I work with - it's also my first year and since I'm getting married next month, I didn't feel inclined to invite anyone else.

I also work special ed resource room. I am inviting the teachers that I work with and one other resource room teacher. I am iffy about my principal and ap but I think it's the right thing to do. If I know I will be in the same place next year, I will invite them. I feel it's 'politically correct' As for otherd that I was debating, if there numbers are in my cell phone and I use them I will probably invite them.

I am new at my school. While there are a few teachers i would like to invite, I will not do so b/c I want to avoid all politics involved.

I had A LOT of trouble with this too. I stressed over it every day, looking at my co-workers thinking, should I invite this person? In the end I invited about 10 people out of my dept. of 25, no administration at all, and a few friends from other depts. I invited the people I am friendliest with and hung out with the most. It was tough though. I tried to avoid hard feelings by not talking about my wedding around my co-workers at all..... in fact I think most of the people I know at work, don't even know I got married this past summer. I just never talked about it.
