Sorry everyone, to have jumped right into a thread about a vendor but I was at some events where I felt that the work was the same every time. Without mentioning names I just want to ask this as I start my planning: would you use a vendor who has a ton of mistakes on their website or blog? Am I the only person who thinks that what a person puts out there represents them? A vendor's blog posts are for their work so it's different than casual chatting. If they spell their OWN name wrong does that turn you off? I am looking at a few vendors whose sites or blogs don't look professional and I keep thinking that I need to move on to the ones who care about details. Does anyone else share this feeling or am I the only person who judges these things?

I feel the same, I won't mention a name but a decently big photographer has like 5 mistakes on their website with spelling and grammar. If you are a legit company you should be looking over your website especially when someone is about to potentially spend thousands of dollars on a package. So I completely agree!!

I feel the exact same way! I do editorial and marketing work, and if there is one thing I know about marketing, it's that these vendors need to represent themselves properly! If it's just one little mistake on a whole website or a post on Facebook I might not think about it, but when websites are poorly designed or when there is bad grammar, I just don't trust that they are going to put the kind of care and focus into their services to me that I want. Especially if they aren't willing to put that into their own advertisement.
I don't think it's off-base at all to get turned off by that. If you're still on the fence about someone then you could still go have a meeting with them and see them face to face, but I agree 100%.

I can see where you're coming from; I had issues with people calling & emailing me to try and get our business but almost no one took the time to actually pronounce my name correctly. It's really not that hard to say 'Diana' - not Diane, not Dana, nope, not getting my business

I completely agree. I won't look at vendors with a ton of spelling errors in their emails. I think it's the teacher in me

OMG I had this same issue! This one vendor kept calling me twice.. leaving two voicemails at the same number for two different names a couple of minutes apart.. and it was the same exact person! I couldn't believe they kept leaving me voicemails.. once for Eunice, once for Michelle.. wth?!
Also, I once had a DOC on liweddings fm me regarding working for my wedding and she used the wrong name AND the wrong RH.. it's right underneath my name.. If you can't handle those minor details, how can you handle the details of my day?

Well, maybe some vendors will shape up just a little bit. I don't expect total perfection because everyone has a different idea about what that would be. The things I am hearing about are awful no matter how we look at it. I'm just glad that there are other vendors to choose from. The ones who just throw any old crap out there so people can see their names just irk me. And I'm just getting started. Today I did get to narrow down some florists and photographers to look into.

I agree!!! We live in a computer based world. A lot of my vendors I picked by looking them on-line first. If I don't like what I saw from there website I went onto the next! Not to sound judgemental!

Thats pretty bad!! This happened when we were looking for our officiant. His documentation and contract had so many grammetical errors that I said how does he do business like this. Steer clear. I think after I told him we went with someone else he was offended & said he knew it based in our 1st conversation alone. Go with your gut!!
