Try and lock it in a room.

the basement is where me and mike hang out... in his house there is no room that it could be locked in cause all rooms are used....
its frustrating.... its not a solid ceiling and there is a gap between the basment and first floor that bugs are able to get in through so you see them flying around or bumping around on the basement ceiling where the big florescent lights are.... so today we happened to get a bee

WOW! I feel you pain! As Latina511 said, this happened to me a few days ago!

Just stay away until someone can kill it for you! Good Luck

I hate when that happens! I'm the worst when it comes to bees and other flying insects (wasps, dragonflies). Like Kathy116 said keep away from it and hopefully someone can kill it.

Ok, I'm going to tell you the same thing that I told all the other bee-problem girls!!

Spray it with hairspray (or spray gel, whatever) It makes the wings freeze up and the skin close and it cannot breathe or fly. This also works on spiders in webs - spray the web, then wrap the whole thing around a stick, the spider will be dead.

OMG- I have to tell you all my bee story...

Late Sept of 1998 me and FI were waking up in the morning to the buzzing and slapping of bees that were between the blinds and window. It was over a weekend and the first time I thought it was a fluke. The bees were back on Sun morning- just 2 or 3 small ones. Didn't call the landlord, killed the bees. The apartment was fine in the evenings & night no bees.

So Monday comes and I'm at work. Gotta go potty, but can't use the work one. Fortunately, I was right down the road and drove home. I'm sitting on the bowl and suddenly I hear a deep bass buzz around my head. I freak out, run out of the bathroom and see a bee almost as big as a shelled peanut. Never went potty, called the landlords.

Landlords tell me to try and put any dead bees in a bag because the exterminator would be there in the morning and needed to know what type they were. So I go by the windows where they had been over the weekend to see if there were any dead ones.

I must have bagged about 20 bees. Keep in mind, I had only actally seen about 5. Totally freaked out. Still went to bed (no bees at night) and in the morning a couple of bees slapping between the blinds and the window.

When I got home from work there was a note from the exterminator. It said that he wished National Geographic was there to capture the biggest wasps nest that he has ever seen. It was in my cellar. The bees were getting cold and would follow the light and warmth from the cellar through the cracks in the wall to the window.

Exterminator came back 2 days later for a follow up. I hadn't seen any bees but found about 10 more dead in my bedroom by the window. He asked if I wanted to see the hive. Of course I said 'no way' but he convinced me I'd be safe and he'd go in first.

I went the cellar stairs and stayed on the last step. The exterminator had a flashlight shining on the wasps nest. It was gigantic; about the size of 4-5 footballs. I'm dramatic, but this is a serious comparison. The guy said that he killed hundreds of bees. You could still see a ton dead on the floor. It was nasty.

Exterminator cleaned up and I was beeless until until I left. Not a fan of the bees.
