They accepted our bid and then changed their minds...

We had a bid accepted on a house Sunday night. Today, our agent called them about the inspection we had set up for Thursday. They tell our agent that another couple had previously bid on the house, but then couldn't sell their house in order to pay for this one. We have nothing to sell, which is why our bid was accepted.

Anyway, today, after they had accepted our bid on Sunday, the previous buyers bid higher, we bid higher than them, and then they couldn't match us.

However, the homeowner said that no amount of money would change her mind, she wants to sell to the first couple. Why? why? why? We offered more money, and we have nothing to sell!!!!!!! I am so upset. The house was really beautiful.

They probably got a better offer... and want to take it and avoid a bidding war.

Even though you may think bidding wars may be good for the seller... sometimes they just want to take a good price they get from somebody that they KNOW will definitely buy the house.

NO!!! i can't believe them. i am so sorry. i have no words of encouragement but i am a strong believer that things happen for a reason.

The other buyers could not match our price, we are putting down 15% to go into contract, and we have nothing to sell. The other couple still has a house to sell. We are definitely the better buyers.
