THIGHS

THIGHS

OK so I have been working out for along time and never had nice thighs. I tried BBody for life and gained 15 lbs. I followed it to the letter. The squats and other legs excerices made my thighs huge! Then I went back to WW. I stopeed excersing and lost all the weight. things were OK but now I want to get my thighs in shape. So I start running...since Jan. I have gained 7 lbs! I have been working out 6 days a week ( mostly runing...light weights but the same that I have always done) My quads are huge! I can barely fit in clothes anymore. I do Pilates every morning but it doesn't seem to help. Anyone else have really muscular thighs with fat on top? Any ideas about what I can do to slim them down? It is very depressing!!!

I hate to say this... but some people just aren't born to have skinny thighs... I know I am one of them...
You might want to try consulting a trainer. He or she might have suggestions on what you can do to just tone up instead of building a lot of muscle. I also find that yoga is really good - it elongates the muscle, rather than adding bulk.

Lots and lots of reps with light or no weights will make your thighs look slimmer instead of bulky.
Running should not have made your thighs bulky or gain 7 lbs. I think what you're eating may be the reason for the weight gain.
I wouldn't give up training your legs. The muscles of the legs are fairly large, so it makes your body burn more calories.

In order to get rid of bodyfat anywhere you have to do cardio. (you cannot spot reduce, although you can try and tone the problem areas) Of course muscle training in order to increase your metabolism will help as well, but you have to be sure you are creating a calorie DEFICIT--so pay close attention to what you are eating. Women do not gain large amounts of muscle very quickly, typically, so I would agree, double check your portion sizes and be sure your meals are in check.

It's not my diet becuase I have been following WW diligetnly. I haven been doing 45-50 min of cardio 6 days a week. I have seen trainers in the past and they have told me to do squats and lunges which i know make my thighs bigger.

How many calories are you eating on WW? And how long have you been doing it for?

And again, you don't need to use weights when doing squats and lunges. You can just your bodyweight or light dumbbells, but do a lot of reps. And you only have to work your legs once a week if you're running.

I am the same way. Even 30 lbs ago, my thighs were the most muscular part of me, covered in a layer of fat I just could not get rid of. The positive thing is that when I gained weight, it seemed to be everywhere BUT the thighs- they stayed the same.

Pilates is really good, although you might find that if you take classes, they may not concentrate enough on where you want to. You might want to try tapes - or ballet class!

This is my problem too! I have a super skinny upper body and not so super skinny butt and thighs! And whenever I lose weight it all seems to come out of my upper body and boobs (where i really can't afford to lose weight - haha)!

Ive had some success in the past by cutting out the refined sugars and white breads and with running/Elliptical trainer and pilates (running helps tone up and pilates helps to lengthen muscles). Of course, I have no will power to keep this up and even when I do there are certain areas that just always stay the same.

have you tried using a tape measure instead of a scale to measure your success... i always gain weight when i gain muscle but my clothes fit better, so i often turn to a tape measure to tell me what's really going on.
