Things are coming along...

So my mom and I were talking about my shower today. I think we decided on a place and weekend! The only thing is, there are many menus listed on their website and differing prices.

There is a bereavement menu, which is a salad, pasta, choice of 3 entrees and dessert for $24 per person. Then, there is a bridal shower menu and the only different is there is a choice of 5 entrees for $40 per person. We are going in to talk to them because I think 3 entree choices are enough for a luncheon and really what is the difference. The guests will still have salad, pasta, entree and dessert!

Well my mother already knows what I want. I sent out an email with theme ideas. I am helping find a place because she lives in NJ and the shower will be in SI, so we need a place close to the highway for the traveling people (from LI and NJ) and weekends are limited because we don't want March, May there are too many things going on and June is too close to the wedding. So far we settled on 2 weekends in April.

I have an issue letting other people take control of stuff for me I trust everyone but have my own vision too! I will just go with my mom to book a weekend and a place and let them take care of the rest.

I know I know! I just feel like I always take the initiative and do things for myself so it makes me nervous to give up control!

yeah its funny bc i was thinking of that today. Like i trust my MOH and my mom dont get me wrong but part of me is like hmmmm so i wont have any control over this lol...but honestly ive been planning this wedding without any input from others, kinda like doing it and then telling everyone after and i know my mom and moh wanted more involvement which made me feel horrible, so i'll leave it all up to them and just suck up my control issues with the planning hahahaha, i know it means alot to them.

It's great there. It's right next to my hair salon! Unfortunately it's really far from the Verrazano. LI people will be in horrible traffic on the way back. The NJ people have a much better commute.

I had my engagement party at the new Da Noi on Fingerboard so that may be another option for us.

I am the same way at work. I can plan with the other teachers, but I really like to have control. I have a specific format and even if another teacher works with me, I change everything to my way after. I am terrible!

i know its bad, especially since now i know alot of people feel i leave them out of the planning...I think my mother hears stories of other mothers SO involved in every detail and feels so differently with me and like i shut her out so im trying to be better with this now. So thats why im staying out of one aspect that is really about her

I agree 3 choices is plenty. It shouldn't be a problem. I hate that anything with the word wedding attached to it becomes more $.

We had my e-party at Da Noi on Fingerboard, so that is an option. We are looking at the Lake Cafe next week. I was at a few showers the past 2 weeks. One was at Ruddy and Dean's right by the SI Yankees ballpark and it was great. I went to one at the Marina Grand in Great Kills Harbor last week and that was good too. I also like Bocelli's and Cafe Luna.

we had my sisters sweet 16 at marina grand it was nice except for the flat soda lol. its a nice area too...i didnt know ruddy and deans had a party room ive never been in there so yea i guess i shouldnt lol

It's upstairs and there is an outside deck. We had a brunch and there were about 75 people there.
