Things are starting to go wrong. Both Semi NWR and WR. And kind of long, too.

Things are starting to go wrong. Both Semi NWR and WR. And kind of long, too.

As I've mentioned before, this weekend I am coming into NY to get basically, everything done that is left for the wedding. This includes hair and makeup trials, dress fittings for everyone, flowers, food tasting, tuxes, etc.

So far, my hair and makeup trial have been cancelled on me, and my Mom's dress didn't come in yet, so she can't get fitted.

To top this off, since I have moved to Philly, I am having a tough time getting a job. I'm working on my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, and before I moved, I was managing a shelter for homeless families. I want to try to stay in the field. Once I was living here for about 2 months, I got a position as a social worker for foster kids. It turned out to be a horrible job, nothing like what they had described to me in the interview. It included constantly traveling, and going into peoples' homes, especially in really bad parts of Philly. I left the job b/c it was causing me a lot of anxiety that I didn't need. Since I have left that job, I have been on 8 interviews. 7 out of the 8 have never called me back. I have no idea what is wrong with me. The one that is interested in me is low paying, and not even full time. Not to mention, I know I am over qualified. My only hope left is that I have an interview on Tuesday for counseling people with serious illnesses. I really need this job. I have literally no money. My credit is screwed, and have no money at this point to get my FH a ring, to get gifts for my bridal party, or to arrange the night before the wedding dinner to thank everyone, as I had wanted to. Thankfully, my parents have been helping, but I feel like the biggest idiot having to ask them for everything. I'm 24, I have moved out of state, and have suddently become more dependent than ever.

Sorry this is so long. I really just needed to get this stuff of my chest.

Please hang in there!!! I'm sorry things are so tough for you right now. It sounds like you are really bright and motivated and are willing to do some really difficult, but important work. Someone is going to recognize that and it will pay off.... Your friends/bm would much rather know you have piece of mind than have a gift from you that you don't have $$ for right now.... Hang in there...things will absolutely work out and you'll look back and be proud of how you got through it all

I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I too moved away from home young and without a job. I understand how hard it is. Thankfully you have the support of your parents and FH. Don't worry, things will turn around just when you least expect it!

something will come up. Perhaps in the mean time you can go to some colleges in the area - usually you can use their career offices to look at postings and get help. Try St. Joes (city line ave), Rosemont, Villanova, Bryn Mar, or Temple - they all have reputable career offices and alot of connections in the area. See what they can do for you. Take a day and go up the main line visiting career offices.

Good Luck

ETA - I forgot Drexel and Penn - try them. If you are interested in some medical type counseling jobs - start looking at hospitals as well - I think St. Christophers, Thomas Jefferson and Bryn Mawr are all relatively close to you.

Jaime, it would be a tough commute, but at this point, I am thinking about it, haha. I just never knew it would be this tough.

no seriously...maybe you can get yourself on the perdiem list and work a few days here and there if you are that strapped! If you get desperate of course...

Everything will work out! It's not easy to start over in a new home, city, job etc.' Everyone will understand!

P.S Most 24 year olds I know still live with there parents in the same room they grew up in and are trying to find jobs. Not that there's anything wrong with that my point is that your still young and in the same boat as most 24 year olds!
