Hi everyone- There has been some conversation on this board about how sometimes we get caught up planning our weddings and we makes ourselves crazy and forget what is important. Being an extremely detail oriented person and a perfectionist, I can easily fall into this trap. I've decided to prioritize and the following represents my personal list of the things that I will not allow to bother me.
I'd like to see your own lists of things you've decided not to go crazy about. I am sure that no 2 of us have the same list.
I WILL NOT STRESS ABOUT:
1. Whether the bridesmaids all wear the same shoes or whether their dyed to match shoes are a bit 'off' from the dresses.
2. Whether the band plays every song I asked for or whether they play something I on my 'do not play list.'
3. Whether I could have found a better deal on my veil or shoes.
4. Whether the wedding party walks down the aisle in height order.
5. Whether my photographers gets every shot that is on my 'must take' list (if I even write such a list).
6. Whether a specific friend of mine has too much too drink and acts stupid.
7. Whether it rains (as long as everyone is safe getting to and from the wedding I will be okay).
8. Whether I get some RSVP's late.
9. Whether my china pattern is being discontinued.
10. I will not worry just yet about whether to have an engagement party and whether it is okay to have it closer to the wedding date (FH and I are too busy with other things right now and the timing for an e-party is not good at the moment).
It was not easy to list 10 things that I honestly will not worry about---more......Unfortunately, my list of things that I WILL worry about is rather long!!!

I can honestly say that I am not worried...yet. Who knows what will happen as things get closer, but for now I feel ok - maybe a little stressed because this wedding planning sometimes feels like a 2nd job.

That is a good way to look at things but your thoughts might change as you get closer. I know mine did. Like not getting RSVP's back. Let me tell you that is so frustrating. Especially when you are waiting to do seating arrangements, etc.

My advice to you is to only worry about what makes you happy and your FH. The one thing I regret was worrying about making other people happy.

I agree-although the stress can get the better of you sometimes but I try to focus on the big picture-I'm marrying the man of my dreams!!!

smart girl!!! there were things i didn't stress about and guess what? i had fun at my wedding! i swear, that day, it didn't matter what the centerpieces looked like (i never even noticed them) or who had what bout or boo-k or how their hair was, etc. i was just there to marry my husband and if we had fun, that is all that mattered. keep up the attitude!!! you'll have a great wedding!

Re: Things I will not worry about
There were many things on that list that I'm not stressing about.. but unfortunately my worry list is much longer. I'm trying not to stress, but between the wedding stuff, and buying a condo and grad school and looking for a new job (I'm moving right after the wedding to NJ) and work I'm just overwhelmed! I don't know what to think about first sometimes! I try to focus on the fact that I'm marrying the man of my dreams, but sometimes with all that is going on it is hard to remember what is really.

I love the list! Some things stressed me out as the wedding got closer but those little details about how my BMs are going to wear there hair and the style and color of there shoes and there jewlery were the least of my concerns. I just wanted everyone to feel comfortable. My biggest fear was that people that were supposed to come would either back out at the last minute or not show. Thank goodness everyone showed!! Its not worth it to get caught up in the details...my main goal was to have everybody I loved at my big day and be comfortable and have fun!

Re: Things I will not worry about
I think your list is great. I made a similiar list and am trying to stick with it. When I discuss my list with others, they occassionally say--You can't think that way!. I decided not to do an engagement party for the same reason. So, we decided to send out STDs eight months before the wedding. If anyone wants to give us a gift, they can send it to us and many people who are invited to the wedding will know our date. I thought it was a good and stress free alternative.

I'm the same way! As long as my FMIL stays off my case, I'll be just fine!

Re: Things I will not worry about
JMHO - I'm with you 100%. I also won't stress if my flowers aren't EXACTLY what I want, and a zillion other things - I refuse to. This is MY wedding, not the wedding of Princess Diana where the whole world watched. If my friends and family can't cope with what the day has to offer, then they really don't get me.
Having said this, I will try my best to plan expeditiously so that everything will go as planned and envisioned - but I refuse to have a meltdown over a party
ETA - months ago I made the reciprocal list of what really matters to me regarding the wedding - - that's the list I'll work to make happen as best possible.

I love the list! Thank you for coming up with it. Everytime something bothers me or worries me I have this little mantra in my head, 'Grand scheme of things. Does it really matter? Or will it really matter the day of the wedding?' And the only big thing that could happen to really ruin my day? My FH oversleeping

Kerie-that's a very healthy approach to the wedding..it will get more stressful as it gets closer, but you have each other and that is the single most important thing. Your wedding will be great no matter what.

LOL!!!! that's great.
I love the list too . . . I just tell myself that all the major things are under control, so it will be fine. The more important thing is the days AFTER the wedding!

Re: Things I will not worry about
My #1 one is:
-I will not worry if not everyone thinks my invitations are perfect.
I can't believe how many people are giving me input/stress about these...everyone (friends, family) is stressing about wording, names go where, just the right paper and lettering, and envelopes, and placement of addresses. So much so I can't get these things ordered and my wedding is like 3 months away!
