1) My dress and the BM dresses. We got engaged in December and didn't want a long engagement, so took care of ordering dresses right away. We got them at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue, but they're not supposed to arrive until the end of April! I'm really worried that they won't come in on time and I won't have time to get alterations made. I've debated buying another dress off the rack, just so I know I have one, but am holding off for now. Has anyone had experiences with Paradise, and with dresses arriving when they say they will?? I'm also worried b/c they told me I didn't have to rush order, and I feel like I should have.
2) Not making our head count. We promised the hall 150 and so far only have 97 yeses and the RSVP date is two weeks away. This I'm not as worried about b/c many of our friends are slackers who promised they're coming, so we'll just need to get on them to send back the cards. It's just annoying that people can't send in a card that already has the stamp attached!!
Okay, vent over. Thanks for listening!

Re: Things I'm Worried About
I would call the store and ask again. It is close but it will all work out fine! you did need off the rack in an emergency, you could do that a week or two before. No need to worry, I bet they'll be here very day. Tally, your people, see how man of the non-RSVPers you think might come and get on the phone with the BM and ask what you can get in lieu of meeting your minimum. It'll all work out, promise! How many other posts have you read about worry and then in their after wedding posts, they talk about how great and beautiful. It'll be fine, just breathe

Re: Things I'm Worried About
I have not used Paradise Bridal, but I am sure everything will be fine. They can do alterations in no time and I am most certain they would have told you if they think it would be a problem.
As far as the RSVP, yeah I hear you on that. My Min is 175 and I am about 35 away now with Thurs. being the deadline. There are people I know are coming, but have not sent back the card yet. You will see that people will send them on the last day or after, it's annoying but it always happens I heard. Makes no sense to me either, but it is what it is. Yesterday alone I got like 7 at once, so I have a feeling they are going to all come in this week.

Re: Things I'm Worried About
Thanks girls, you're right, I need to stop worrying. I called the dress place last week and asked again about the dresses and they told me they were on schedule to come in the last week in April. Maybe if I call them every week they'll get here sooner, or maybe I'll just drive them crazy!! FH and I decided that this weekend we'll call anyone we haven't heard from yet as a 'reminder' that we need their RSVP. ::takes deep breath:: Okay, much better!

Re: Things I'm Worried About
I am also having a short engagement. It's stressful because EVERYTHING is squished into a relatively short period of time and people pressure you because of that. I oredered my dress in January and it is not supposed to arrive until mid-May. Trust me, I have thought about going and buying a dress off the rack too--just in case. My Bridal store told me that they would never guarantee a date unless they were certain it would come in by then and if for some reason it was late, they would pay to rush it.
About your head count--I would wait until the rsvp date and then immediately get on the phone...
you can also rely on a B list to make up the numbers...
Good Luck!!

I am using Paradise Bridal also. I don't think you will have a problem. Most of the people who work there are great. FM me if you have any other questions. I hope that I helped you out.

Re: Things I'm Worried About
Im using Paradise Bridal for my dress and BM dresses and havent had a problem with them yet...tho I have had an issue with them already...my dress came in 2/14 and theysaid ti wasnt going to comein until the end of march. Also, call them. As what the ship date is on them. Ask if they can call the manufacturer and find out when you can expect them. Dont let them tell you that they will be in at least 1 month prior, tell them thta you want a DATE from the manufacturer b/c you are starting to get nervous about it. DO NOT BACK DOWN! Paradise bridal h as a way of saying 'it will be fine, dontw orry you have time' and then you find out the truth when its too late. Call and ask them to call the manu. period.
Let me know if you need anything!

Re: Things I'm Worried About
I'm also having a short engagement, seven months. I ordered my wedding gown in early January, they told me it would arrive the 1st week in May, which is cutting it close. My BM dresses already arrived--they were FAST. I've been worried about it, but I don't think it's the salon so much as the manufacturer. I sent them an email last night, asking them to reassure me that it would come in on schedule, and they checked (or said they did!) and it will. I feel better. Why don't you contact the gown and BM dress companies and make sure they're not going to be late? Sometimes I think it's not that they need so much time, it's just that others are in the queue before you. Maybe if you bug them, they'll move you up. It's worth a shot, right?

Re: Things I'm Worried About
That's a good idea to call the manufacturer, or to ask the bridal place to get a ship date from them. I'm hoping I have nothing to worry about but this will put my mind at ease a bit. Thanks!

I know!!! I noticed that our friends who are recently married all RSVP'd very quickly, and our holdouts are mostly our single friends (and my family, who really have no excuse!).
