Things to do in Hawaii

Things to do in Hawaii

For all of you girls who are going to Hawaii for your honeymoon or who have been there before, I am looking for activities to do, romantic restaurants to go to and night life entertainment. I going to Maui and Honolulu. I have already book the Old Lahain Luou on Maui, which I hear is the best. What else is there? What have you booked?

Honestly, the BEST source of info would be tripadvisor.

I swear by that website.
When FH and I go anywhere, I book all dinner reservations, etc, based off of the opinions on that website. It has not failed me yet!

it's awesome!
Def. check it out!!

That's how I am planning on getting through Hawaii.

Buy these guidebooks:

amazon.com also has good prices on them - they have tons of reviews of activities, restaurants, and so much more. they're great to help you decide what is a must-do and what can be skipped.

I loved the Old Lahaina Luau! It was a really good show. Where in Maui are you staying? There's lots of great restaurants that range from super-romantic to beach casual. FH and I like to stay in Kaanapali because it's closer to Lahaina which is a great little town with restaurants and shops.

As far as dining in Honolulu - I assume that you're staying in the Waikiki Beach area as opposed to the North Shore. In Waikiki Beach, I'd try Roys for dinner (there's also one on Maui). It's expensive but romantic and good. There's also a revolving restaurant - it's a great view but expensive - better for drinks and apps than actual dinner.

Activities:

This is what we've done on Oahu:

did a shark cage dive
drove around on the North Shore
Pearl Harbor (the Arizona and Missouri)
Hiked Diamond Head
Snorkeled at Hanauma Bay
Polynesian Cultural Center

On Maui:

Scuba Diving
Horseback riding in Haleakala Crater
Road to Hana
Took a ferry over to Lanai and went 4 wheeling
Old Lahaina Luau
FH played golf and I went to the spa

Maui Ocean Center
Hiking at Iao Needle

There's so much to see and do!

Here are some recommendations for Maui:

Restaurants:
Mama's Fish House -- Make your reservation in advance. It's very popular and REALLY good. My friend lives in Maui and recommends everyone go there. It's a bit far from the resorts, but worth the trip. Best time to eat is during sunset

Hula Grill - FH and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. You can eat right on the beach.

Lahaina Grill- good for lunch and drinks

Other activities:

Trilogy snorkel tour -- We had an awesome tme on thi day trip. They took us to Lanai where we snorkeled off the coast and had a picnic on the beach. on the way back we jumped into the blue water. Awesome trip and worth the money

Road to Hana- I think it;s something you have to do in Maui. It will take almost a full day to to drive the whole road and back. It's so pretty...so I highly recommend

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau and it was really great! Good choice
Other things we did in Maui were the Road to Hana and Mount Haleokula to see the sunrise. We ate at the Hyatt (where we stayed) a lot. In Honolulu, we hiked up Diamond Head Mountain and went shopping at the Int'l Market. We also went to Waikiki Beach. Have a great time...I loved Hawaii and can't wait to go back someday

I went there in 04 to Oahu so it's been awhile. I love the Waikiki Beach, that is a must! The beach is so beautiful, they also give out live hula/dance performance everyday. The Statue of Kahanamoku known as the Father of Surfers is a must take photo. Some other sites to visit: Pearl Harbor Memorial, Diamond Head (hiking trail, famous extinct volcanic crater), International Market Place, Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole Pineapple Plantation, abundance of historical/cultural museums. Must do activities: surfing, hiking, riding with dolphins, snorkeling, jet-skiing, hot-air balloon ride, etc. Restaurants: Roy's, Cheesecake Factory, Royal Hawaiian Restaurant, P.F. Chang's, Sam Choy's, Shore Bird Restaurant & Beach Bar on Outrigger Reef on the Beach...I missed it so much! I have to take a trip down there again. We stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West and it was the best! We had a beautiful outdoor balcony. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Maui:

Front Street - restaurants and shops by the water.

Sunrise Bike tour - it starts at 2am and you drive all the way up a mountain with a group and bike ride down, its scary at first but after a few mins its the best thing ever. It was amazing!

Sunset Sailing - Maui has one of the most amazing sunsets, and sailing while watching one was amazing.
food and booze was served

Ka'anappali Beach - the best beach on Maui

If your renting a car (which I recommend you do) Drive on the west coast of Maui you get to meet the locals and you get amazing views of Maui. The ppl there are so nice!

MUST do a helicopter tour!

Just remember to relax and have a great time...it came to a point where we were doing so much and I just wanted to have a few days where we did nothing, but relax by the beach. You are going to have an amazing time!

DEFINITELY go to Mama's Fish House (if you like seafood...) We stayed at the beachfront cottages at Mama's for 3 days and ate there all 3 days...2 dinners, 1 lunch. SO DELICIOUS.
