im at work and im talking to some people about the economy. we get on the topic of how the stock market is plummeting today....obv bc the global markets are not taking kindly to the new stimulus plan. So one guy says to me:

'How does it feel to be planning a wedding during the 2nd great depression! feels kinda silly doesnt it!'


ummm.....no @sshole. and id hardly call it a great depression. they said the market will go lower today than we have probably ever seen.

UGH that was a little out of line.

It's true though...we're doing more than the average person to stimulate the economy. Most other people are just rocking back and forth at home because they're TOLD to. It's only as bad as you make it...and I think the operating out of fear is making it so much worse than it should have been.

I know exactly how you feel!!! I've gotten that same comment a few times. This weekend my father made me so angry. He says he read somewhere that girls are changing their dates to less expensive times of the year because of the economy, he was insinuating I think about it. Umm dad, the wedding's 3 months away and the invites have already been printed please STOP nagging, lol. sorry rough weekend hah.

lol i actually called him several names to his face along with backing it up intelligently with FACTS about the way the economy is running right now. The other people standing around him started laughing at him and he totally felt like an @ss. My job is done.

well i do agree that its not the best time for a wedding and i felt that way in december for my wedding BUT we can't let the economy put our lives on hold (unless you HAVE to) - maybe if DH and i still weren't engaged yet we might be talking about waiting a little longer BUT i don't think it should ruin anyones wedding happiness plan your weddings and enjoy every minute of it!

By booking and planning our wedding we are stimulating the economy lol.

If spending our savings the way we are at prices we are paying I would say were are stimulating the economy.

I can tell you that my vendors are making a pretty penny off of me.
