I dont want to say any names or the name of the hall but I just heard someone I know who got engaged last month.. just booked their hall.. for the middle of 2007! * ETA this hall is nice but they do more then one wedding at a time.. and they didnt get that great of a price! I would probably change my mind 100 times if I booked my hall more then 3 years in advance

Re: think this is too far in advnace?
I'm going to book my hall in a few months for my december 2006 wedding. I dont think it's too soon because of 3 things:
1) The decisions is made and out of the way
2) You're sure you've got your date (My sis had her wedding at CHCC an when she booked, they were tkaing bookings for 2005, it was 2002 then)
3) You can lock in 2004 prices for a 2006/2007 event.

Well I think your on time for your booking.. I did mine exactly 2 years before the date we are marrying... but over 3 years? I guess they want to lock in the price I just thought it was a little crazy.

It's ify, IMO. I want to say yes, too far in advance but I've learned that if you know what you want, you're better off getting it out of the way as soon as possible. I, on the other hand, second guess myself on EVERYTHING so I couldn't book that far out, I think. Plus so much can happen in that time. I don't know if I would ever actually say anything about it being too soon to a person who did that though because I know how bad I felt when my wedding was in 2005 and I started booking things and looking around in early 2003 and people made their comments to me...

i had my heart set on one hall and i was engaged 13 months before my wedding and all the dates that were good for me for jan were booked. i was heartbroken and was told that you have book 2 years in advance or just happen to get lucky. i would say if you really love the hall go for it

I think it is kind of too far in advance but at the same time it is true about locking in 04 prices. And maybe this might allow them to save more money and make the whole planning easier for them. I am always thinking of doing so many different things. I was even thinking of changing the date!!!!! I hope it works out for this couple and they dont second guess themselves later on.

it seems early to me, however I went in January 2002 for April 2003 dates and they were so booked up. I thought a year in advance was good enough, but it seems 2 is more to the point. I guess 3 is ok, because you get better rates.
