Thinking about Italy

With less than 3 months to go we still didn't book our honey moon. We are thinking about an 11 day tour to 4 cities in Italy. Rome, Milan, Florence and one other. For those who are going or already went, can you tell me more about your trip. Cost, which hotels you stayed at, etc. Anything would be helpful. TIA

I pretty much backpacked, so you don't want to stay at the places I stayed at... but Italy was wonderful. Its beautiful and scenic- so much to do, and also so many great beaches (but I don't know if its beach weater in October).

Good luck!

We did the same tour a couple years ago! It was so awesome. We spent about 4000 per person, that included everything, airfare, hotel, most meals. We booked through In & Out travel, tour group was Far & wide(they are now defunct and out of business), the tour people themselves set up the hotels, transfers, and bus transportation and there were also pre set excursions. The hotels were pretty much 3 and 4 star hotel that we stayed at. They were all beautiful and very close to major points of interest in all cities. But you can take extra excursions while your there for extra $$$. FM me if you want more details.

Re: Thinking about Italy

i used to spend my summers in italy so it's my favorite

imo, i think trying to squeeze in 4 cities in 11 days may be a little frantic... there is much to do in each one (except maybe milan, which isn't as touristy). and it will take you a while to get to milan from florence, so there will be time spent in transit. have you thought about mixing one major city with some nearby towns/regions? for example, rome and the amalfi coast? or florence and tuscany? or milan and the lakes region? i think you might get more of a feel of the country that way, but again, jmo!

i've been to most places in italy except for the deep south, so if you think i could help you any more feel free to fm!

i think 4 cities is a little tough to swing as well...

we are flying into milan and will stay only a day or two to say 'hi' to relatives and move on...

we have 3 days/nights in florence and 3 days/nights in venice and then we fly home from venice...

there are so many things i want to do but will not be able to do, so we are just going to have to make a list and prioritize
