Re: Thinking of getting a Yorkie for my daughter...
go to akc.org for a list of teh best, most reputable breeders. good luck.. keep us updated.
www.puppydogweb.com also has a HUGE list of breeders, but BEWARE.. SOME are backyard breeders/puppymills
DONT buy from Coleman Kennels EVER. they are a puppymill and sent me the wrong dog.. not to mention their dogs are so UN-standard its ridiculous.

Re: Thinking of getting a Yorkie for my daughter...
I have a Yorkie! She's very cute, very playful, and she's one tough cookie, but they ARE small and fragile. You have to be careful with them. use a harndess instead of a collar b/c a collar can hurt the trachea. They can be a little hard to train b/c you can't use a collar and many people see them as so cute and delicate that they won't discipline them. Mine is afraid of most kids, but is otherwise VERY friendly.
PLEASE be careful where you buy. My mom didn't know any better and bought our puppy at puppy city (BAD PLACE) and they sold her as a 'teacup' and chraged a fortune, but thank god she's actually normal size- 6lbs! Seriously she almost died she was so sick and wasn't eating and she has HORRIBLE problems with her rear legs...DO NOT buy from a puppy mill, please..it's horribe to see this puppymsuffer and I know she would have died if she'd been bought by someone ledd attnetive and experienced with pets. She also would ahve died had she stayed in the puppy store any longer..they didn't nottice she apparently hadn't eaten for days!

Well you'll be glad to know that Becky's doing real well and instead of not eating, she's notw quite plump and we ahve to make sure she doens't get any fatter! She's really playful and healthy and we may eventually get surgery for her knees..but she's doing well...and my jack russel (also from that horrible place, also sort of sick when we got him) is also doing reall well. Feisty as anything, but very healthy, thank god!
