Newest development.
We booked Stewart Manor because it's all inclusive (hall, ceremony, centerpieces, cake, so forth) Now we've decided to do our own centerpieces. Mostly because theirs are silver with white candles and it really clashes with our asian theme.

So here's what we've thought of...
These as Centerpieces and the little candle holders are four per table. The table setting is Red with a gold layer on top (like two table cloths draped)

Whatcha think? (oh and we're tying red/gold tassels to the bottom of both sides of the handle on the lantern).

I wanted to also tell you that my friend got these little paper like origami favors in chinatown and they put them on each plate which added a nice touch too...

I see some kind of red branch with red flowers in the bottom vase...
Go onto google and see if you can find Asian arrangements there...

If you get a link that would be great.
However.. Origami is generally associated with Japanese and not Chinese. It's bad enough the lantern has japanese charaters.. but since the two languages share so many characters we can get away with it. Still I'd like to see these origami. I'll search as well.

Very cool!! I like it alot and it goes perfectly with your theme!! Plus they are different -- unlike many other CPs.... I'm a big fan of anything different than your typical wedding stuff.

I think you should go for it! there c-pieces are only worth the $7 they give you if you don't use them anyway! Yor idea I think will look great!

BTY, if you are looking for gold or read ribbon head to joanns they have 90%off x-mas stuff. Michaels too, but they did not have much ribbon left

Okay
After thinking about what it was because the wife is Taiwanese was that these were not Origami but little paper ladies (flat) made out of pretty paper on gold string , so you can use them for an ornament...
I have no idea wher they got there - maybe Pearl River mart in the city - if you email me, I will ask him when they get back from the Chinese New Year in Taiwan...

Pearl River Mart is a great places for things esp. vases and plates with Asian feeling...
