Thinning hair

Thinning hair

Hey there...wondering if anyone else out there has problems with their hair thinning. I'm actually in the process of getting blood tests done because it has become an issue for me over the last few years (ruled out stress) I know this may seem shallow BUT I really wanted to have sexy full hair for our wedding...do you think extension or a piece that matches my hair color would do the trick?

Re: Thinning hair

When you go in for your hair trial, ask your stylist what she could do to thicken up your hair.

I've heard of many brides using extensions to have fullness and curls to their hair, so it's definitely doable!

Have they suggested rogain or biotin?

Have you tried taking Pre-Natal vitamins? Makes your nails stronger and thickens hair.

Re: Thinning hair

i have VERY thinning hair - not thin - thinning. i saw your pic and your hair looks much fuller than mine. i knew i would not be able to have a dream hairstyle for the wedding, so i just went to my trial with an open mind and some pics that i thought would be doable.

i thought i would need extensions for the top, but my hairdresser said that he would do it so that i wouldn't have to use anything at the top. he did a good job, considering i'm pretty thin up top. i just used a few extensions in the back for a bit extra curl.

eta - for me there was no hope that some meds would fix it b/c i have female pattern baldness for years, like a vast majority of women. i've (sadly) accepted it and tried to make the best of it on my wedding day.

i dont have thinning hair but have always had thin-fine hair. My hairdresser did my hair and it looked fuller than normal I was shocked. Plus she said alot of brides do use extensions to add body. Your hair will be beautiful. Dont worry.

My hair is EXTREMELY thin. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to get the style that I wanted without extensions so I went to Sally Beauty and bought a package of clip-ins. Pics of my hair trial are in my album, you can't even tell that I have extensions in.

You may also want to try taking Biotin. I've been using it for a couple of months now and my nails and hair are definitely getting stronger.

I am def going to use extensions for my wedding...no matter how long i let my hair grow, i have very thin hair and i need it for fullness.

BTW, my cousin had the same problem, she had hair falling out and was thinning alot, shes 20 years old so didn't know what was happening...She had tests done and it was an iron deficiency, hers was extremely low, i think its a 7...Don't know if thats what it will definitely be but def a possibility...Good luck with everything

Re: Thinning hair

My hairdresser has suggested taking biotin, which is good for your hair and nails. You can try doing that and talking to your hairdresser about options to make your hair seem fuller.

Re: Thinning hair

Is your hair really thinning or just flat? Do you color your hair? I used to be blonde and I had a thick head of hair but now that I went back to my original hair color, I feel that its is flat and limp. When I shower little pieces fall out and when I brush it, little pieces also fall out. Do you have that prob or is your hair really coming out, like in chunks? Do you use hair products or hair machines? I also straighten my hair alot, do you? These can be some factors that is making your hair look like its thinning but really not. I dont know?????

I have thin baby hair. I had extensions for the wedding day. Nobody knew. Plenty of girls do it for the day of hair do.

Hey! I have androgenic alopecia. Thinning of the hair (and growth in undesired places)due to an excess of androgen hormones. Make sure your blood tests check for free testosterone. If you need a good doctor, please let me know. I went on a high dose birth control and the problem has gotten better and more manageable. FM me for anything, I understand the extreme emotional toll it can take on you!

Re: Thinning hair

had my first appointment with a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss. she drew lots of blood to check for any systemic causes of my hair loss. i think that's a good start. here's a helpful website for people who are interested in this topic.
