Hooray! For real this time! St. Mark's Episcopal Church said 'yes.' The only problem is that the ceremony will be at 3 and the reception doesn't start until 7:30. What do people normally do when there's a gap like this in between?

Re: This bride is having a ceremony!
Sometimes they go bakc to the home of a close fmaily emmber of the bride. You may be able to negotiate with your hall to have coffee and cake or something before the cocktail hur. That's what my sister did.

Re: This bride is having a ceremony!
My ceremony is at 4pm and the cocktail hour starts at 7:30pm my mom is having light refreshments at her house but leaving a close family friend in charge so she doesn't have to worry!
but I've been to weddings with a time gap and we just found a local bar to hang out at until the cocktail hour

Re: This bride is having a ceremony!
Finally!! Good for you!
I think the time gap is just fine. They'll have the ceremony, and if you are having a receiving line that eats up some time. They can go to a nearby relatives house if possible, or maybe you can suggest a nearby place (like a bar or restaurant) for people to hang out via word of mouth.
I wouldn't worry about that too mcuh, I think people are used to that time gap.

Great news! Congratulations! People will find something to do, or as others have said you might be able to offer refreshments at a relative's home or with your caterer a little early.

Re: This bride is having a ceremony!
Our ceremony is at 2 and cocktail starts at 6. I am the first in my family to get married and it was important to me that my family come and take pictures with us. It was also important to me that his family come and take pictures with us because this is my new family and I wanted pictures with them. I wouldn't worry about the time gap, because people are going to complain nomatter what you do, whether you have refreshments at someones house or not, there will always be something. Important part is that you have a place to say your vows.

Yeah for you!!! That is great and do not what people are going to do. Most people spend half their lives sitting in a Starbuck's talking with their friends over coffee. They can do that in between
