this could be bitter sweet!

So FH is taking the suffolk police test and we are praying to god that he gets a call.. but the thing is the test is in June of 2007 and it takes anywhere from 6-8 months to get the results but i can almost guarentee that they will call in a new class by the time we get married.. and if he gets the call that they want him he HAS to go.. its a GREAT job and the money is AMAZING!! but on the down side im going to be completely selfish here but we wouldnt be able to go on our honeymoon. i think i would be devistated if we couldnt go... so it would be totally bitter sweet... we really need him to get that call but i really need my honeymoon! just felt like a quick vent thanks for listening!

I think there is a silver lining there! You can take your honeymoon when he earns his vacation time and he'll be making a salary so you won't be so stressed because you'll have time to financially recooperate from the wedding and he'll be earning $$$!! Maybe you can even plan a bigger and better honeymoon because of it

Just think of it like this, if he gets the job you can go on your dream honeymoon once he gets the vacation time, Caus eyou will have the $$$ then, And if he dosen't get it untill after the wedding you can still go someplace wonderful and on your 1st year anniversary go someplace even better.

I know the honeymoon is important to you. But it is much more important that you both have a steady job and income. I would take a local trip for maybe 3 days, and then we he can take the time off you take the trips of your dreams.

Be patient! It can take awhile! A person I worked with was applying for State trooper and it took a long time. I think they test your patience to see if you really want it!

Re: this could be bitter sweet!

this is exactly the predicament my friends are in. he's in the NYPD and applied for a CO (corrections officer... and Meg... he should look into that too, just as another option... I hear its a great position) position. They're getting married June 2007 and if he gets in on the first try, then they'll have to put their HM on hold. Luckily they got HM insurance, so no matter what you do Meg, get that insurance.

It'll be OK... you'll eventually be able to take your dream HM!

I think it's a great thing, FH having a 6 figure salary will be nice you can go to the hamptons for the weekend & plan a honeymoon you desire when FH has vacatin time

One of my friends had the same thing happen to her. Her husband got picked for FDNY and they had to cancel their honeymoon cruise b/c he wasn't going to be able to go. But the ended up doing like a 4 day thing in Las Vegas and then fortheir 1 year anniversary they are gonig to do teh cruise. DOn't worry, it'll work out .

You can always go on your honeymoon!!! It desn't have to be right after the wedding. And with his salary and the money for the wedding... u won't have to worry and go to Tahiti!!!

Re: this could be bitter sweet!

an ex-boyfriend of mine years ago, took that suffolk test. He got a 99 on it, and got called, went for the orientation and decided that he didnt want to be a cop...at the time he was very young, maybe 19 or 20. His brother was a city cop.
Its just so crazy, that someone would pass up such a great opportunity. I could never get it over that.

i know it's not quite the same situation however i understand. I graduate may of 08 and would love to get a full time teaching position for that fall (FH swears I won't...yes he's not always the most optimistic) so we are trying to decide if we should plan our honeymoon for right after our wedding or wait and do something small that weekend and then a honeymoon on a break just in case

It *****, but if he gets the call its just such a great thing...i'[ll keep my fingers crossed that if he gets the call it does not interrupt wedding/honeymoon plans!!!!!!!!!!
