i dont really know what to say other than. eew! i think a grooms cake is a great idea. and if he is a cop - the gun is a fun idea - did i just say that guns are fun?! you know what i mean! you could also make an actual 'police officer' cake.

Re: This irked me...
odd that a cake vendor didnt respond first- i guess she is really against guns -
I think its a nice idea if he really likes his gun - another option is making a cake of his badge

whatis with vendors - they arent the authority on all things - personally i think unless they are going to tell you how much they are charging for the gun cake then they shouldnt be replying to your post

I am sorry, I think that it was nice that she took the time to respond and that your answer was a little rude to her. Granted she didn't answer your question, but just like here people offer suggestions that you may or may not like but I wouldn't answer them so rudely.
Maybe she was thinking that having something shaped like a gun (THOUGH I COMPETELY UNDERSTAND YOUR THINKING) might not be as romantic as having a heart.
If I was to offer a suggestion it would be, contact Audrey's bakery directly I have heard that they are AMAZING! Also maybe to have a grooms cake in the shape of his badge with his badge number on it. I am sure you won't like that either but it's just my honest opinion. OK let the flaming begin.

Also, too be honest I have not seen a lot of the bakeries on here answer posts that often. I really would contact Audrey's directly.

They're just suggesting an easier alternative, but if you want a gun, you should be able to get it!

I have to say I did get a weird vibe when I saw you requested a gun shaped cake, but we don't know your FH and if that is what he would love I'm sure someone will make it for you. I don't think that lady was trying to be mean but she did have no business responding to your cake vendor post. Good Luck.

I don't think she ment anything buy it. Bakeries really aren't on this board anyway. I would contact a bakery by phone. I do think it would be creepy to have a cake shaped as a gun at your wedding. I know he is a cop but there are a lot more things the cake would be. I think when most people think of guns they do not think of a cop. They think of murders and stuff. JMO.

i think the badge is a better idea and you can have his sheild number on it as well. my dh is a police officer and i think he wouyld like the shield better then a gun.
ets this is just my opinion you know your fh better then anyone.

Re: This irked me...
i have to say that i agree with the above posters - the idea of a cake shaped like a gun weirds me out a little... but having said that, i think the vendor reply was condescending and unnecessary. if you want the gun cake and think it would make fi happy, then i say do it. i've also heard great things about audrey's. there's also another bakery called hey! cookie that makes original cakes. i don't have their info, but i'm sure it's on this site somewhere. i would call them directly.
Well if you knew my FI, he loves guns, not shooting things or anything weird like that but for example he just wants to collect old pieces someday and he is proud of his profession too.
I guess a weapon as a cake is a little odd but the point I was trying to make starting this thread was the fact that I asked a certain question and it was not answered but put down by a vendor with NO experience in this field.
The badge is a great idea too.

Re: This irked me...
She wasnt condescending you with the gun idea..uncalled for maybe but this board is filled with unwanted opinions, you should be used to it by now...Ihate to put mine in where it's not wanted but a gun shaped cake is a little weird for a wedding, you said ' he loves his gun' ...why would anyone love their gun? It's used to hurt or kill....not neccesarily the vibe you would want at your wedding is it? If you are paying tribute to him, his badge or something like NYPD,SCPD etc would be nicer...

Re: This irked me...
I thought the point of the grooms cake was that it be something that the groom loves and is interested in. That being said, If your FH is into guns and loves them, then you shouldn't question yourself. I am sure one bakery will make it for you. If not, maybe you could try making it yourself. I have seen a lot of crazier things done. Good Luck!!
ETA- I know a lot of people, some cops, that collect guns as a hobby.
