This is a new one....

This is a new one....

My FMIL just called asking me what HATS the bridesmaids are wearing, because the person that is making my Jr. Bridesmaid dress wanted to make the matching hat. I'm like 'no hats!', and she says 'well it's required in church'. I said first of all, it's NOT IN A CHURCH, second of all...NO IT'S NOT!!! She says 'well my girls had to wear hats, and I always had to wear a hat'. I said 'that was 32 years ago, and I was never required to wear a hat to any church wedding I was in. Then she said 'well maybe they'll just make her a flower or something'. I said no, I'm going to provide her and the flower girl with crystal hairpins. I totally just decided that while on the phone with her, because God only knows what kind of flower she'd wind up with in her hair!!

When does the sillyness end??

I believe they were required at some point! LOL, I have to laugh Misty, your FMIL seems funny!

There used to be a time when strapless dresses were a no no in Church's too...

Ok Im really dating myself here but this goes back to when I was a little kid. - Yes you were supposed to have some sort of head covering in a RC church.

My uncle's family actually belongs to a church where it is still required that all woman cover their heads. When I went to my cousin's wedding about 5-6 years ago, as I walked in I was handed a, well, basically a doily, that I had to bobby pin onto my head. I don't think the girls wore hats, but they had some sort of lace covering that matched their dreses.

Maybe she is trying to relive her wedding day.Maybe you could give her a task to do w/the planning so she feels a part of it

Misty, I can just see you and your entourage now, hats, flowers and whatever else your MIL sees fit. You have to just laugh at these things sometimes.

Re: This is a new one....

maybe FMIL would be interested in this one for herself (this was really posted on a evening gown site)..or it would be a good way to get rid of your friends ... ask BM's to wear one of these
