I think its fine...
How many of us REALLY can say we are 'VIRGINAL' when we get married........
I know I am not and I am wearing white!

I agree, BUT a maternity gown just makes it obvious. No offense to anyone, that's just my opinion. I don't know if I would wear a white gown if it were me.. But then again that's just me.

Re: This is different
I dont think a white wedding dress is equated with a virgin bride any longer so I dont see any problem with a pregnant woman wearing white.
However, that dress is not white...its ivory or cream.

Oh man! You have awoken the ultra feminist in me!
A pregnant bride should absolutely be able to wear white. What is this, 1950? Why shouldn't a pregnant woman be entitled to her special day as a bride? Blah.
I love the picture by the way. How wonderful for that baby to know how much his/her parents love each other -- and that they weren't embarassed or forced into marriage by circumstance!

Awww OctBride03, I didn't mean to put ya down or make ya sad! I understand how you feel, everything you said was about what you would do, which in the end is exactly my point. I was just in my usual ranting manner saying how no ones choice should be limited!

Each women should be able to wear what she wants on her wedding day. I am no one's judge or jury.

I don't think anyone expects the white dress to mean that the bride is a virgin, or 'pure' or any of that. And why hide it? The bride in the picture will look pregnant no matter what she wears. If I saw a pregnant bride I'd say good for her for not being ashamed.

Re: This is different
I think the dress is quite lovely. However, I must say that I am surprised to hear the comment that it shouldn't be white. I don't mean to offend anyone, but this is year 2002 where most brides are older and are not virginal as in earlier times. A bride is entitled to wear what she wants, and should not be frowned upon when she chooses to wear white if she is not a virgin, second, third, fourth,.. marriage, pregnant, has children.
Again, I not attempting to offend anyone. I do agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that.

Re: This is different
I completely agree. To each her own. Personally, I hate white and i think it makes me look like a hippo! but, to be honest, i can see why so many of us choose white because when folks attend a wedding, i think they are looking for the lady in white when they look for the bride. so prego or not, first time or not, if you want to wear white, you should (and if don't, then you shouldn't have to!). Let's fact it girls, very few of us are completely pure in fact, and most of the wedding traditions we follow are based on barbaric, arcane and sheuvanistic practices that don't deserve the stature that they have acquired. Besides, I always thought that the historic basis of the white dress was that only the wealthy nobility could afford to have a pure white dress, not that it symbolized chasteness. Anyway, I think that model looked awesome in that dress (BTW - i love the style (and I am not prego) and really want to know who makes it).
Sorry to vent, I just feel that tolerance is very important!!
