This is rude I don't know what to do??

My Stepbrother Rsvp'd for the wedding 2 adults 2 children. I only invited the 2 adults. I even had adult reception on the invitations. Maybe it was not clear enough but what should I do now. I can find them a sitter since they are from out of town but I can't let them come when I told everyone else No. Help what should I do?

send an email that although you would love to have the children come, you and your FH decided on an adult only wedding and if two kids showed up everyone else who wanted to bring kids would be upset. Maybe they can bring thier children and you can find a babysitter locally.?

I'd talk to them directly and let them know about the situation. Perhaps they misunderstood (I hope this is the case). If not, I don't know how I'd handle it...but I don't think you're under any obligation to find them a sitter!

Maybe he figuered that since hes family the No children policy didnt apply to him? I would just kindly point out that it was printed ont he invitations and you would really like it to be followed.

i don't think its rude.... i believe it takes away from your day and the parents would have a better time with out them anyway

we made it clear as soon as we started planning our wedding that it was adults only.
my mother called the cousins with young children and told them from the beginning.
we had no problems.

inviting the adults and putting adult reception on the invite was pretty clear enough. IMHO i think what they did is quite rude, and they knew what you wanted, but figured they'd try and slip it in. my fbil tried this trick too...they scratched out the 2 and put 7 instead for them and their 5 kids. (they lost that battle btw)

i would call them and let them know that you are only having adults and that having kids is an 'all or nothing' thing....either you let everyone bring kids or no one...and you are going with no one cause you just can't handle the budget.

CALL (don't email) them and discuss it with them directly. Better yet, have a parent call. What they did was rude, but maybe they didn't understand. Have someone explain it to them and stick to your guns.

We're not having kids at the reception either, but I think by now that's pretty clear to everyone. Hopefully we will not have any problems like this.

Tell them!

Speak with him directly about this and be prepared to pay for the sitter if you make an offer to get one for them.

But remember, it's your wedding and no kids means no kids. Be firm about this.

You guys are all right. I mean I guess I'm lucky I found out now I have heard stories about people who just show up with their kids. FH younger sister has tons of friends who babysit and would do it cheap. I think i'm gunna make the phone call and let them know they can come to the ceramony but the reception is adults only. It's 7 to midnight anyway kinda late for kids. Thanks girls

yeah, def give them a call. They should understand that it isn't fair to the other people who can't bring their kids.

You need to call them. I have been faced with this already. Just let them know.

My cousins wife spoke to my mom to find out if their children were invited or if she need to find
babysitters and my mom told her to speak with
me. So, I spoke with her last night to let her know. She got quiet but understood. I felt a little bad but it something that I had to get use to.

Including our nieces, nephews, and two cousins there eleven children attending our wedding. Six of them are in our bridal party. I have learned to make FH and I happy. Not necessarily the family.

this happened with us and I just blamed it on my inlaws saying that I said no kids because his family has really unruly kids that wold ruin everything so I didn't want them to come (which is not true)..

I would call as well. I have a ton of family coming in from out of state and they all have children - I found them all (7 kids under 8 years old) a babysitter (or two!). As for the locals, if anyone thinks of bringing their children, I will either call, or have the moms call.

As an aside, my mom had to do this for my shower. The women in my family think its ok to bring their kids everywhere even if they're not invited, and if my mom didn't say anything there would have been at least 10 kids (under 5) at my shower.
